DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepare, serve and clean-up after meals, responsible for sanitation related to meal preparation and proper storage of food, work with management in menu planning, Related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Must have good cooking skills and understanding of nutrition. Familiar with NYC health regulations. Two years of cooking experience preferred.

HOURS:

Part time, 15 hours per week
Saturday, 11:00am - 7:30pm & Sunday, 10:00am - 6:30pm

* Vaccination preferred but not required

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

Located on the Lower East Side, Sadiqua Khabir House is a permanent SRO housing facility with a capacity for 35 formerly homeless men and women suffering from mental illness, substance abuse and HIV/AIDS. The program is funded by the NYC Department of Homeless Services, the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development, the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and the NYC Human Resources Administration's HIV/AIDS Services Administration. In addition to providing permanent housing for its tenants, Los Vecinos offers a variety of services aimed at helping clients stabilize their health, maintain their independence and build a community of support among peers. These services include case management, referrals to medical facilities and assistance managing health conditions, medication monitoring, health education, psychiatric management, entitlement support and money management, recreational activities, assistance with activities of daily living and free meals.
