ย Job Summary

The RN provides nursing services and health care to Grafton clients. Performs a variety of nursing duties associated with monitoring clientโ€™s health and general wellbeing, managing health issues and providing health care. Reports to a Nurse manager or supervisor.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Manages the health issues and provides nursing care to clients. Observes and monitors client health; and documents treatments and/or medical concerns in the client charts.ย

  • Performs a variety of duties associated with maintaining optimal health for clients to include the administration of medications, obtaining prescribed medications from a Pharmacist; administering medications to clients; providing information about medications; obtains medications for home administration; monitoring medication changes; and observing client reactions to new medications.ย 
  • Attends to clients who admit themselves as being sick (Sick call) or injured.ย 
  • Assists with psychological reviews; schedules client appointments with health care providers and dentists. Attends all neurology/specialty appointments, as appropriate.ย 
  • Contacts parents or legal guardians to discuss client medical issues, status of health conditions and treatments received.ย 
  • Works on-call duty in rotation, as appropriate; promptly responds to calls for immediate nursing services.ย 
  • Provides hepatitis B or flu vaccines and PPD testing to Grafton staff.ย 
  • Conducts in service staff training related to nursing and health issues; teaches medication administration and related medication issues and practices to staff.ย 
  • Promotes and assists in the control of communicable disease.ย 
  • Provides the medical perspective into client care for all Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings.ย 
  • Participates in various facility wide meetings and committees on an as needed basis.ย Serves as back up for nurses in other Grafton locations as needed.ย 
  • Prepares and/or completes a variety of health services forms such as medication permission forms, on-call sheets, medical/dentist appointment sheets, etc.ย 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program
  • Valid RN License from the State Board of Nursing
  • 1 - 2 years of experience providing nursing services; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must have valid state license as an RN.ย 
  • Thorough knowledge of practical nursing techniques
  • Computerย proficiency, strongย communication skills,ย ability toย maintainย effective working relationships with clientsย andย other employees.ย 
  • Valid state drivers' license

COMPENSATIONย 

  • Starting at $38.46 up to $51.39/hour; commensurate with experience and qualifications.ย
