Job description

Position: Maintenance Person
Boyne Valley
Position Type: Full-time or Part-time
Boyne City, MI
Objectives: To see to the overall maintaining of buildings and grounds at St. Matthew’s and St. Augustine as needed as well as oversee all safety issues.
Specific Job Duties:
  • Keep all areas of the churches as well as all equipment in working order and well maintained.
  • Maintain grounds, including mowing, raking, edging, and snow removal.
  • Shovel snow and ice from sidewalks and clearing roofs of snow.
  • Maintain lighting in churches and parking lots.
  • Operate and maintain all yard equipment (lawn mowers, seed spreaders, etc.) and other power operated equipment.
  • Keep all areas painted and cleaned.
  • Work with contractors.
  • Review bids dealing with equipment, etc.
  • Maintain buildings (roofs, windows, etc.).
  • Able to lift, carry, and set-up tables.
  • Report to work on days when needed to prepare for Holy Days, funerals or other parish activities.
  • Maintain logs on boilers, inspections and fire equipment.
  • Other duties assigned my administrator/pastor.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • General knowledge of safety rules and hazardous materials handling.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders up to 15 ft tall, and move/setup room dividers.
  • General knowledge of small machinery like vacuum cleaners, lawn mowers, snow blowers, etc.
  • General knowledge of electrical, plumbing, heating and cooling systems.
  • General knowledge of small engine repair.
  • Ability to operate power tools.
  • Completion of Child Protective background checks and completion of diocesan requirements for employment.
Work Hours:
  • Needs to be flexible
  • Normally works five (5) six (6) hour days per week – more when needed
