SUMMARY
Gila Bend Unified School District #24 is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented
Part-Time Custodian to support the cleanliness and maintenance of school buildings, including areas where students are in attendance. This 10-month position is essential to ensuring a clean, safe, and professional environment for staff, students, and visitors. The ideal candidate will be proactive, trustworthy, and committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Clean and sanitize classrooms, restrooms, hallways, meeting rooms, school gyms, and common areas
- Maintain cleanliness in all areas where students are present, ensuring a safe and healthy learning environment
- Interact professionally and courteously with students and staff during daily routines
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors and surfaces
- Empty trash and recycling bins and ensure proper disposal
- Replenish the restroom and cleaning supplies
- Perform minor maintenance and report larger issues to appropriate personnel
- Assist with setup and breakdown for school events and activities
- Maintain the cleanliness of entryways and the surrounding school grounds
- Follow all safety, health, and district policies and procedures
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior custodial or janitorial experience is a plus
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Dependable, punctual, and trustworthy
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for extended periods
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to operate custodial equipment such as vacuums, buffers, and floor scrubbers
- Must be able to perform repetitive cleaning tasks and handle exposure to cleaning chemicals
Requirements:
- Must possess a valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS)
- Must be able to complete all required safety training provided by the district
