Term: 10-Month Position (Academic Year)
Pay Range: $17.00 DOE
Reports To: School Principal
SUMMARY
Gila Bend Unified School District #24 is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Part-Time Custodian to support the cleanliness and maintenance of school buildings, including areas where students are in attendance. This 10-month position is essential to ensuring a clean, safe, and professional environment for staff, students, and visitors. The ideal candidate will be proactive, trustworthy, and committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Clean and sanitize classrooms, restrooms, hallways, meeting rooms, school gyms, and common areas
  • Maintain cleanliness in all areas where students are present, ensuring a safe and healthy learning environment
  • Interact professionally and courteously with students and staff during daily routines
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors and surfaces
  • Empty trash and recycling bins and ensure proper disposal
  • Replenish the restroom and cleaning supplies
  • Perform minor maintenance and report larger issues to appropriate personnel
  • Assist with setup and breakdown for school events and activities
  • Maintain the cleanliness of entryways and the surrounding school grounds
  • Follow all safety, health, and district policies and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior custodial or janitorial experience is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Dependable, punctual, and trustworthy

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for extended periods
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to operate custodial equipment such as vacuums, buffers, and floor scrubbers
  • Must be able to perform repetitive cleaning tasks and handle exposure to cleaning chemicals

Requirements:
  • Must possess a valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS)
  • Must be able to complete all required safety training provided by the district
