Job description

Class Description The Costumer Associate is responsible for the designer and costume staff in the completion of productions and costume related activities. The costume related activities include, but are not limited to maintaining stock, constructing costumes, fittings, making alterations, laundering, helping with inventory, and keeping costume areas clear and organized. The position may serve as dressers for productions.

Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree and 1 year experience with costume related activities or an Associate's degree with 3 years of similar experience. Able to work overtime during peak periods and fill in for absences as needed. Positions located on the Catonsville & Essex campuses Class Specific Essential Duties Assists in all aspects of costume production.

Builds, either by machine or hand, the costumes assigned. Complete sewing projects assigned. Communicates with team members concerning problems and their possible solutions.

Plans and executes the dyeing and painting of fabrics. Purchases materials either locally or otherwise for productions. Borrows and/or returns borrowed items from other theaters.

Maintains wigs/hair for productions. Cleaning the workroom and sewing machines. Attends production meetings and costume related meetings.

Performs other duties as assigned.
