Adjunct Instructors of Physical Education Activity (PEA) Courses at Columbia College
The Division of Health Sciences at Columbia College invites applications for multiple, adjunct physical education activity (PEA) courses beginning August, 2026 for the fall semester. Columbia College is a liberal arts college that is committed to creating a learning community that values diversity and inclusion. We seek candidates who will be innovative in teaching while building collaborative relationships at the college.
The School of Health Sciences includes undergraduate majors in both the Allied Health Sciences as well as in the Natural Sciences. Exercise Science, Speech-Language Pathology, and Public Health are the current majors offered in Allied Health while Chemistry and Biology are majors that are currently offered through Natural Sciences. Faculty within the division are committed to collaborative undergraduate research and have been successful in obtaining outside funding to support these efforts. The College and Division are committed to social justice and demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of underserved and marginalized populations. The academic programs housed in this Division rely on the convergence of scientific education, clinical application, and a strong liberal arts foundation. While PEA courses are required for some Allied Health majors, these courses are open to all Columbia College students.
This position is a part time, adjunct position. The courses meet 1-2 hours per week on campus. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to design and deliver courses in-person, in physical education activities including weight training, yoga, walking/jogging for fitness, or karate/self-defense. Other areas of physical education activities will be considered.
Qualifications
Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in exercise science, physical education, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred. Certification or coaching experience in specific areas may be required. Some teaching experience is preferred. All required documents must be completed for the application to be reviewed.
