Responsibilities
• Provide support to Teachers, administrators, and educational leadership.
• Assist the Head Teacher and Assistant Teacher with the daily operations of the classroom.
• Work with children in small groups or individually, facilitates the transfer and escort of children to and from classrooms, supervises and monitors children, and works to keep the classroom clean and orderly.
• Demonstrate awareness at all times of what is going on in the classroom. When not assigned to a particular area, Teacher Aide should move to the area where adults are most needed i.e., where there are more than three children in the same work area that is unsupervised.
• Responsible for the safety and wellbeing of the children at all times, both in the classroom, center space and outdoor playground.
• Facilitate and support the intake, transfer and escort of children to and from lobby space and classrooms
• Supervises children in the execution of fire drills and emergency drills.
• Perform other duties as required
Maintains a flexible schedule to cover for staff as needed.
Requirements
• Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent (GED); some college coursework in Education is a plus.
• Minimum one (1) year relevant experience of teaching in a pre-school program for young children (ages 2- 5 years old)
• Ability to work with children and families
• Knowledge of Health and Safety Practices and Guidelines.
• Ability to foster and maintain positive, professional relationships with staff and participants.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - oral, written, and listening
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and ability to navigate diverse online assessment tools.
