Communications Center Operator
Part-Time | Brookgreen Gardens | Murrells Inlet, SC
Fixed Schedule: Sun/Mon and Tues 8am -6 Pm
Position Overview
Brookgreen Gardens is seeking a dependable Communications Center Operator to help keep our guests, staff, and gardens safe overnight. Stationed in our Communications Center, this role serves as the eyes and ears of Brookgreen after dark โ€” monitoring CCTV and alarm systems and staying in constant contact with the on-site Safety Officer as they complete rounds and checks throughout the gardens. This is an office-based position that plays a critical part in Brookgreen's overnight safety operations.
Schedule: Sunday, Monday and Tuesday - 8am - 6pm. Additional hours may be required for special events or departmental needs.

What You'll Do
  • Monitor and respond to telephone and radio communications
  • Dispatch security units as needed
  • Monitor intrusion, fire alarm, and CCTV systems
  • Stay in continuous contact with the Safety Officer during nightly rounds and checks
  • Maintain communication, equipment, key, and lost-and-found logs
  • Provide accurate information to callers and visitors
  • Support event logistics as scheduled
  • Maintain first aid stations and supplies
  • Keep security leadership informed of incidents and concerns

  • Ability to learn Brookgreen Gardens' programs and operations
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and additional hours as needed

Work Environment
This position is based in Brookgreen's Communications Center and does not involve outdoor patrol duties. A pre-employment background check and drug screening are required prior to hire.
