Part Time Etap Electrical Engineer information

What does a part time ETAP electrical engineer do?

A Part Time ETAP Electrical Engineer specializes in using ETAP (Electrical Transient Analyzer Program) software to perform electrical power system modeling, analysis, and design on a part-time basis. Their responsibilities typically include creating and updating electrical system models, conducting load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and coordination studies, and generating technical reports. They collaborate with other engineers and project teams to ensure electrical systems are safe, reliable, and meet industry standards. Working part time, they may support projects remotely or on-site, providing flexible technical expertise as needed.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a part time ETAP electrical engineer?

To thrive as a Part Time Etap Electrical Engineer, you need a solid background in electrical engineering principles, power system analysis, and typically a relevant engineering degree or equivalent experience. Proficiency in ETAP software, as well as familiarity with AutoCAD and other electrical design tools, is essential, and certifications like Professional Engineer (PE) can be advantageous. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help you collaborate with teams and deliver accurate engineering solutions. These competencies are critical to ensure reliable power system designs, efficient workflow, and successful project outcomes in a flexible, part-time role.

What types of projects and responsibilities can a part time ETAP electrical engineer expect to handle?

As a part-time ETAP Electrical Engineer, you’ll typically be involved in performing power system studies, such as load flow, short circuit, and arc flash analyses using ETAP software. Your responsibilities may include creating or updating single-line diagrams, evaluating system reliability, and collaborating with full-time engineers and project managers to deliver accurate reports. Part-time roles often support multiple projects simultaneously, requiring strong time management and communication skills. While the workload may be more flexible, you should expect to participate in meetings, provide technical input, and ensure project deliverables meet industry standards.

What is the difference between Part Time Etap Electrical Engineer vs Part Time Electrical Designer?
