Description

Part-Time: 32 hours per week. Four 8-hour shifts scheduled as 7:00pm-3:30am. Including every other weekend & holidays as needed.

Summary:

Responsible for all accountabilities of the Patient Access Liaison 1. Provides functional guidance to staff. Performs registration and admitting functions and communicates information on financial obligations to both in-patients and out-patients to ensure a "one touch" registration/scheduling experience. Provides estimates for services when appropriate. Receives and processes patient financial liability payments.

Responsibilities:

1. Performs all responsibilities of the Patient Access Liaison 1 position. May provide functional guidance to Patient Access Liaison 1 employees 2. Communicates all information pertaining to the patient's financial obligations, including but not limited to co-payments, deductibles, in and out of network responsibilities, referrals and authorizations. Requires an understanding of payor requirements and state and federal collection laws and regulations. 3. Completes all admitting functions. When applicable duties may include bed management responsibilities utilizing the ED bed management application. 4. Facilitates in gathering accurate patient billing information. Ensures that proper selection of insurance, plan type, prioritization, pre-certification and billing address are assigned in the system utilizing a broad knowledge of insurance as well as regulatory and contractual compliance. 5. Performs collections of outstanding accounts receivable. Accurately estimates the patient liability. (copayments, deductibles, coinsurances, deposits, etc. via obtaining accurate demographic and financial information). 6. Receives and processes patient payments. Maintains necessary petty cash to properly service and receive payments. 7. Answers patient inquiries regarding their liability and able to explain the variables involved. 8. Properly receipts and forwards all copies of patient payment receipts posting to the patient's account in appropriate system. 9. Performs end of day duties closing and reconciliation duties in appropriate system and reconcile deposit slips. 10. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position. 11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Other Information:

Education: Required HS Diploma with minimum of 2 years job related experience. Associate degree with 1 years job-related experience - Preferred. Bachelor's Level Degree with a minimum of 1 year job related experience preferred. Other Information: Basic MS Word & MS Excel. Customer service and organizational skill required. Criteria Desired: National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM) certification within one year of hire.
