Overview:
WWJ Newsradio 950 in Detroit is looking for a part-time producer and editor to join our award-winning newsroom. This job is fast-paced and includes putting together newscasts on the weekend and in the evenings during the week. The ideal candidate is a news junkie, knows Detroit and Michigan, is organized, can find news stories and excels with breaking news.
Responsibilities
What You'll Do:
  • Edit and produce newscasts (including but not limited to selecting, editing and/or writing news content)
  • Manage the flow of news and information
  • Edit audio for broadcast and digital assets
  • Collaborate with colleagues about news coverage (i.e. propose and contribute to daily and long-term coverage plans)
  • Research and coordinate compelling live and pre-recorded interviews
  • Follow-up and call on news tips and breaking stories, conduct interviews with officials and newsmakers
  • Promote news coverage on social media
  • Protect the station's FCC license
  • Other duties as required by management

Qualifications
Required & Preferred:
  • This job involves working Saturday and Sunday.
  • Required to join SAG-AFTRA
