Position Summary
This position will serve as a Research Assistant within the UNC Center for Gastrointestinal Biology & Disease Clinical Research Unit (CGIBD CRU). The Research Assistant assists with the execution of study protocols, including screening, consenting, and recruiting study participants; conducting follow-up visits; collection, processing, and shipping of biological specimens and collecting, entering, and reviewing study data into various UNC and sponsor-managed Clinical Trial Management Systems (OnCore, Veeva SiteVault, EDC, etc.).
Daily tasks will include data entry, filing, printing, mailouts, phone calls to study subjects, processing/shipping of biological specimens (blood, tissue) and other general office duties to support the recruitment efforts of a research team. Other duties include assisting with report creation; data output; and collection and revision of regulatory documents, Standard Operating Procedures, and other study supporting documents.
Position will involve shadowing and or other duties in UNC Health facilities. As a condition of employment, applicants are required to receive, and/or submit proof of receiving, various vaccinations, including influenza and COVID-19, unless approved for a medical and/or religious exemption by UNC Health.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Demonstrated possession of competencies necessary to perform the work.
Management Preferences
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work and communicate with diverse populations effectively and professionally.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
Prior experience in clinical trials or patient-facing roles.
Experience with UNC EPIC Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
