Senior Infrastructure Inspector

The Town of Apex is seeking a SeniorInfrastructure Inspector to lead policy-setting efforts, oversee complex work,and ensure top-tier quality control of Contractor and Developer-installedutilities before they become Town-maintained assets.
HOWYOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT:
Performs complex work, policy setting and managing; acting as qualitycontrol for Contractor/Developer installed utility's that the Town of Apex isplanning on taking over and maintaining at future dates; supervising newprojects, where Town of Apex is going to have easements and helping keep apositive relationship between Apex residents and new development.
This position reports to the Infrastructure Inspections Manager.Requires little or no direction on work subject only to policy orstrategic guidance.
This position does not havesupervisory responsibilities.
HOW YOUWILL CONTRIBUTE:
  • Reviews plans and construction drawings for adherence to construction codes and engineering specifications; approves minor revisions to plans; and inspects for deviations and errors and assures conformance to codes.
  • Inspects construction work in progress and upon completion for quality of work and adherence to approved plans and specifications; verifies construction materials; interprets results of soils and material testing; and ensures engineer certifications before Town acceptance of projects.
  • Works with other Town departments to ensure Capital Projects (greenways, roads, sidewalks, etc.) are constructed to Town Standards.
  • Completes field paperwork as required for Capital Projects to secure funding.
  • Coordinates final inspections and notifies other Town departments.
  • Corresponds with developers, engineers, and others regarding deficiencies in plans and specifications based on consistency with Town needs and specifications.
  • Conducts pre-construction meetings; meets with contractors, engineers, owners, project managers and architects and reviews and explains construction requirements; and provides updates on status of Town acceptance of public works facilities and infrastructure.
  • Assists with receiving and disbursement of financial guarantees for residential and commercial projects.
  • Maintains log and records work activities andfield findings; ensures that as-builts are submitted upon completion ofproject; verifies as-builts based on field records; and indicatesrecommendation for acceptance of new lines and systems.
  • Answers public inquiries and complaints concerning streets, driveways, storm water, grading and water and sewer projects
  • Assigns work to other inspectors in the absence of the Infrastructure Inspector Supervisor; provides training; assures consistency of work; and assists in unusual and difficult construction situations.
  • Takes aerial pictures and documents progress of Town projects.
  • Helps to make Town of Apex documentaries and information films.
  • Markets, documents post construction, collects traffic engineering data, completes emergency documenting and coordinating, helps with fire and rescue.
  • Completes water tower and inaccessible outfall inspections (flooded).
  • Performs related tasks as required.

WHAT SETSYOU UP FOR SUCCESS:
Position requiresan Associate's degree and a minimum of four (4) years of experience, or anequivalent combination of education and experience.
