Part Time Dry Cleaner Manager information

What are some common challenges faced by part time dry cleaner managers, and how can they effectively handle them?

Part-time Dry Cleaner Managers often juggle overseeing staff, managing customer service issues, and maintaining quality standards within limited working hours. Balancing these responsibilities can be challenging, especially during busy periods or when unexpected staffing shortages arise. Effective managers prioritize clear communication, delegate tasks efficiently, and implement streamlined processes to ensure smooth operations. Building a reliable team and staying organized are key to successfully handling the demands of the role while working part-time.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time dry cleaner manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Dry Cleaner Manager, you need experience in garment care, staff supervision, and customer service, often supported by a high school diploma or relevant managerial experience. Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems, inventory management software, and cleaning equipment is typically required. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication help build customer loyalty and maintain efficient operations. These skills are crucial for delivering quality service, managing workflow, and ensuring business success in a competitive retail environment.

Job description

A highly capable house manager / personal assistant is sought for a private, UHNW family of three (consisting of 2 principals and 1 baby) based in Atherton, California. The family have a second property in Los Altos, which will also require administrative oversight. The family are willing to offer both part-time (a minimum of 20 hours) or full-time hours, depending on the candidate's preference. The current household staff includes a live-in nanny.

This role is ideal for an experienced private-service professional seeking a long-term engagement, with significant autonomy to establish systems and processes from the ground up. As this is a newly created position, the successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to shape the role, implement best practices, and make a meaningful long-term impact while working as part of a lean, high-performing household team.

House Management (approximately 75 % of the role)

The primary focus of the position will be overseeing and managing the family's 7,000 sq. ft. residence and 1-acre property.

  • Manage approximately 20 household vendors, including gardeners, pool maintenance providers, cleaners, and other service professionals.
  • Coordinate annual maintenance schedules for key household systems and equipment, including the well, generator, HVAC systems, refrigeration, and other appliances.
  • Evaluate vendors and oversee larger household projects, such as security upgrades, renovations, and design improvements.
  • Conduct research and implement household projects, including babyproofing and other family-related initiatives.
  • Manage household shopping, groceries, and supplies.
  • Coordinate weekly meal deliveries, laundry services, and dry-cleaning pick-up/drop-off.
  • Receive, organize, unbox, and return packages as needed.
  • Review and organize invoices, ensuring accuracy and identifying any discrepancies.
  • Proactively identify and resolve household issues (e.g., replacing appliance filters, troubleshooting internet outages, arranging repairs, etc.).

Family Office

Maintain calendars and schedules related to household administration and family affairs, including:

  • Property tax deadlines
  • Vehicle registrations
  • Insurance renewals
  • Travel documentation (e.g., Global Entry)
  • Driver's licenses and passports
  • LLC and other entity compliance requirements
  •

PA

  • Coordinate approximately 10 family trips per year.
  • Manage and coordinate nanny coverage as needed.
  • Assist with event planning and execution.
  • Provide personal scheduling support and personal shopping assistance.

  • Previous experience supporting UHNW families, particularly within the technology, venture capital, or entrepreneurial sectors.
  • Experience working with families with young children is highly desirable.
  • Strong network of trusted vendors and service providers.
  • Hands-on, resourceful, and capable of establishing systems and processes from the ground up.
  • Comfortable operating within a lean, high-performing household team rather than a large staffed environment.
  • Exceptionally detail-oriented, organized, discreet, and trustworthy.

  • Valid U.S. Passport, Green Card, or Employment Authorization Card (EAC).
  • Available to start as soon as possible.
  • Must reside locally to Atherton or within an easy commuting distance.
  • Prior experience working in UHNW private residences is required

Personality

  • Calm, warm, personable, professional, and low-ego demeanor.
  • Comfortable working in an occupied family home and engaging appropriately with family members.
  • High emotional intelligence, sound judgment, and strong attention to detail.
  • Proactive and self-directed, with the ability to anticipate needs and identify opportunities to improve household operations.
  • Hard-working, resourceful, and solution-oriented.

  • Highly competitive compensation is being offered based on experience (this will ultimately depend on whether the successful candidate is seeking a part-time or full-time position)
  • The family currently only employ a live-in nanny. As the household structure evolves, a more comprehensive benefits package will be introduced. In the meantime, the family offers a competitive healthcare stipend and all industry standard benefits (prorated if part-time).
