Job description

We are looking for a part time, on-call truck driver to join our team! This person will fill in on an as-needed basis.

Bedford Transportation maintains a small fleet which hauls Bedford Industries product on a variety of routes. Our drivers operate well maintained late model freightliners with 53 foot dry vans and roll-up doors. We are looking for a safe, courteous driver with a flexible schedule to fill in on some shorter local runs (primarily on Fridays), and to be able to go over the road on multi-drop runs when our full time drivers are on vacation. (4-6 weeks per year) Ideal candidate would have OTR experience.

Requirements

Have a valid CDL

Have a safe driving record

Must be at least 21 years old

Must pass DOT drug test and DOT physical

Ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally

Meet all department of transportation requirements

Have knowledge of shipping documents

Have knowledge of federal motor carriers safety regulations

Have the ability to climb in and out of tractors/trailers safely

Be able to secure loads with straps, load locks, and doors

Be able to spot trailers at load docks (properly raising and lowing landing gear)

Be able to sit for extended periods of time

Be able to perform duties in temperature extremes

Present a neat and clean appearance at all times

Be able to operate loading equipment

Maintain driver's logs as required by federal motor carriers regulations
