What is a part time driver?

Part time drivers are individuals who operate vehicles, such as cars, vans, or trucks, on a part-time basis to transport people or goods. They may work for ride-sharing companies, delivery services, courier companies, or other businesses that require flexible driving schedules. Part time drivers typically have set or variable hours that are less than a standard full-time workweek, allowing them to balance driving with other commitments. This role often requires a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and sometimes a background check. Part time driving jobs can offer flexibility and supplemental income for those who do not want a full-time position.

What does a part time driver do?

Part-time drivers transport passengers or cargo from one location to another. Unlike full-time drivers, part-time drivers work thirty hours or less a week. The type of vehicle they drive depends on their company and industry. For example, part-time bus drivers drop off passengers at different locations along a specific route. Passengers may also choose to take a taxi to their next stop driven by part-time taxi drivers. Part-time commercial truck drivers operate large vehicles to transport goods and materials to construction sites, retail locations, and other destinations. Qualified part-time drivers are in demand in many different industries, including manufacturing, health care, commerce, construction, and commercial trucking.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a part time driver?

To thrive as a Part Time Driver, you need a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and knowledge of local routes and traffic laws. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems, ride-sharing or delivery apps, and basic vehicle maintenance is often required. Strong time management, communication, and customer service skills help drivers provide a safe and pleasant experience. These skills are essential for ensuring timely, efficient, and safe transportation while meeting customer expectations.

What are common challenges faced by part time drivers, and how can they be managed?

Part-time drivers often encounter challenges such as fluctuating work hours, unpredictable traffic conditions, and the need to quickly adapt to various routes or passenger needs. Managing these challenges involves staying organized with schedules, using GPS and traffic apps to plan efficient routes, and maintaining clear communication with dispatchers or clients. Building familiarity with local areas and maintaining a professional, customer-focused attitude can help create a more positive and manageable work experience.

Job description

Party Rental Driver Helper — Part-Time

Pay: $16–$18/hour

Bounce N' More delivers and sets up party and event rental equipment across the Dallas area — bounce houses, tables, chairs, games, and more for backyard parties, schools, churches, businesses, and citywide events. We're looking for reliable, hardworking part-time Driver Helpers to join our delivery team.

This is a hands-on position where you'll ride along with one of our Delivery Drivers and help them complete their route safely, efficiently, and professionally. No professional driving experience is required, making this a great opportunity for someone looking to gain experience in the delivery and event rental industry.

What You'll Do

● Ride along with a Delivery Driver throughout their scheduled route
● Assist with loading and unloading rental equipment
● Help set up and take down bounce houses, tables, chairs, games, and other event equipment
● Assist the Driver with whatever is needed to keep deliveries and pickups running safely and on schedule
● Help keep trucks, equipment, and job sites organized throughout the route
● Provide friendly and professional service while at customer locations
● Occasionally staff or operate rental equipment at events when scheduled
● Ride in either a Bounce N' More company vehicle or a Driver's approved personal vehicle, depending on the route

Schedule — What to Expect

This is a part-time, variable-schedule position. Hours are not guaranteed and can vary significantly from week to week.

● Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are our busiest delivery days — weekend availability is essential
● Holidays and major event weekends, including Easter, July 4th, and Halloween, are some of our busiest times of the year
● Some weekday shifts may be available depending on delivery volume
● Start times and shift lengths vary based on the routes scheduled for that day
● This can be a great fit for high school or nearby college students who have dependable weekend availability

What We're Looking For

● Someone dependable who shows up on time and ready to work
● Ability to work as part of a two-person or larger delivery team and follow the Driver's direction
● Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and move heavy rental equipment, including equipment weighing 200+ lbs when using a dolly or working with a team
● A working cell phone and reliable transportation to and from our Rowlett location
● Strong communication skills and a positive attitude
● Willingness to work outdoors in Texas weather and remain productive during physically demanding shifts
● Someone interested in learning delivery operations and potentially developing into a Delivery Driver over time

This Is a Performance-Based Position

Our Driver Helpers are an important part of the delivery team. This is not a ride-along position where you'll spend the day sitting in the truck.

We pay attention to reliability, effort, teamwork, attitude, and how well you support your Driver and the rest of the crew. Helpers who consistently work hard and perform well are the people we prioritize when assigning future shifts and additional hours.

Because the schedule is based on business needs and performance, simply being hired does not guarantee a set number of hours each week.

Requirements

● Must live within 30 miles of Rowlett, TX
● Must be physically capable of performing the duties described above
● Must have reliable transportation to and from work
● Must be dependable and able to arrive on time for scheduled shifts
● Must be comfortable performing physical work outdoors

Why Bounce N' More

● Competitive pay: $16–$18/hour
● No professional delivery-driving experience required
● Gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced Delivery Drivers
● Opportunity to develop the skills needed to move into a higher-paying Delivery Driver position
● Flexible part-time work that can fit well with school or another job
● A supportive team that lives by Accountability, Teamwork, Adaptability, Safety, and Service
● Strong performers can earn more hours, greater responsibility, and opportunities for advancement
