Description
The Dougherty County EMS Department is hiring on a continuous basis for Part-Time Paramedics. The purpose of this position is to respond to emergency calls to provide efficient and immediate care to the critically ill and injured, and to transport the patient to a medical facility.
This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.
Essential Tasks
โ€ข Initiates patient care.
โ€ข Assists with the proper extrication of trapped patients.
โ€ข Directs the operations of the first responders and bystanders.
โ€ข Manages control drugs on ambulance.
โ€ข Ensures that all documents are complete after each call.
โ€ข Ensures proper radio communications with dispatch, hospital and other units.
โ€ข Operates emergency vehicles.
โ€ข Decides on patient transport destination.
โ€ข Drives the ambulance in emergency situations.
โ€ข Provides professional and courteous customer service at all times to in-house staff and general public by telephone, either electronically, or face to face.
โ€ข Checks ambulance supplies and condition, and resupply at the beginning of the shift and after every call.
โ€ข Provides medical coverage for Special Events such as but not limited to ballgames, concerts, and others when requested.
โ€ข Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Qualification
โ€ข High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
โ€ข Must be at least 21 years old.

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
โ€ข Performs heavy work that involves constantly lifting, shoveling, and carrying 35 to 50 pounds on a regular and recurring basis and exerting 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
