The Vancouver Lawn Tennis & Badminton Club (“the Club”) is the city’s premier racquets, fitness, and social Club. Located just a few minutes from downtown, the Club offers exceptional tennis, badminton, squash, fitness and aquatics programming for over 4,000 members, along with a variety of social events with upscale-casual dining in 3 restaurants. We are recruiting for a part-time Drawing & Painting Club Leader to join our team. ABOUT THE POSITION Reporting to the Aquatics and Juniors Supervisor, the Drawing & Painting Club Leader will be responsible for running our weekly Drawing & Painting Club on Mondays from 4:00-7:15pm from September 14-December 14th.  Duties include setting up the room, planning weekly activities, determining supplies required, and keeping attendance records.  Participants are ages 8-12 years old. Additional hours may be available to help with other Juniors events and programs such as birthday parties, movie nights, Halloween parties, and other special events. Hours of work:  Regular part-time (1 position) on Mondays from  4:00-7:15pm starting  September 14th.  Wage:  $18.00  to $21.00 per hour DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : * Organize and set up room  * Lead various art activities including teaching foundational skills in drawing, color theory and acrylic painting. * Provide an overall entertaining, safe and fun experience for all children. * Monitoring attendance including keeping accurate sign-in/sign-out records for billing purposes. * Providing supervision to 5-10 kids ages 8+ including conflict resolution and behavior management when required. * Clean up and organizing supplies at the end of each session. * Enforce program and Club rules. * Liaise with parents about behavior issues or other concerns as required. * Relay all comments and concerns to the Aquatics & Junior Supervisor in a timely manner.  QUALIFICATIONS: * Minimum of 1 year working with children (ages 8-12) * Genuine interest in art and familiarity with various art mediums including drawing and acrylic painting. * Basic color theory knowledge. * Minimum 1 year observational illustration experience (figures, faces, lighting, and gesture). * Emergency or Standard First Aid  * CPR Certification * Experience in Early Childhood Education is an asset. * Proficient in English to articulate professionally in member interactions. COMPETENCIES: * Strong guest focus – exceptional customer service skills, maintains professionalism with members and peers. * Strong supervisory skills – confident leading large groups of children, providing direction, and following through on behavioral issues. * Organization – strong attention to detail, planning and preparation skills. * Excellent communication skills – strong English communication skills both verbal and written. * Self-driven – strong work ethic and takes pride in their work; proactive. * Punctual and reliable – can always be counted on. * Team focused – collaborates and communicates with peers positively.
