Responsible for program development, implementation and supervision of youth and adult athletic programs/events. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Athletics and Aquatics Manager.
Essential Functions- Plans, coordinates and implements athletic programs/events for youth and adults; assists with special events and provide staff assistance for the Athletics/Aquatics Division.
- Conducts manager meetings for assigned adult leagues, schedules staff, practices, games and tournaments.
- Conducts and schedules skill assessments, league drafts, player placement, coaches' meetings as applicable.
- Responsible for volunteer compliance with background screening program and coach training (NAYS) program.
- Makes purchasing recommendations as appropriate.
- Supervises practices and games periodically throughout the seasons.
- Assists in the development of marketing and promotional items for programs.
- Assists in the development of long-range plans for athletics programming.
- Prepares reports and records related to athletic programs.
- Directs or assists with special events/programs.
- Prepares and maintains files as necessary.
- Performs related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications- Knowledge of principles, practices, and methods of programming for youth and adult athletic programs.
- Knowledge of leagues rules and awareness of trends in adult and youth athletic programs.
- Ability to effectively plan, schedule, execute and evaluate athletics programs/events for youth and adults.
- Ability to express ideas effectively and communicate effectively in written and oral presentations.
- Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with officials, parents, athletes, volunteers, employees, school personnel, citizens, and Town departments/staff.
- Ability to interpret and explain polices, rules, and procedures to participants, parents, and officials.
- Possess proficiency in basic office software packages (MS Office).
Physical Requirements- Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of reaching, talking, and hearing.
- Must be able to perform sedentary work exerting up to at least 50 pounds of force occasionally; and/or up a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry push, pull, or otherwise move objects at least 50 poundsMost work requiring lifting is related to work at the pool.
- Must possess the visual acuity to prepare and analyze data, operate a computer terminal, do extensive reading of written material and a computer terminal.
Education/ExperienceAny combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in recreation administration, physical education, or related field, with experience in recreational and/or athletics programming.
Special Requirements- Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license
- CPR/First Aid/AED Certification
