Part Time - Dishwasher
Pay Rate: $20 - $22 per hour (DOE)
Job Summary:
The Dishwasher protects the hygiene of the kitchen and dining room environment, transporting, sanitizing, and cleaning all dishes, utensils, and tables after mealtimes, breaking down the kitchen for cleanup. They are responsible for ensuring the safety, sanitation, and sparkling presentation of all dishware and equipment that serve the residents, guests, and staff, operating with speed, precision, and an unwavering commitment to health standards. In addition, they assist in other dining and kitchen duties as assigned and in accordance with all company policies and procedures, to help keep our kitchen and dining room running smoothly and our residents healthy.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Prepare, clean, and organize dish storage and washing areas in accordance with all community safety and department policies and procedures.
  • Clean and sanitize all dishes, silverware, glassware, pots, pans, and cooking utensils using dish machines or manual cleaning methods, as needed, adhering strictly to health and sanitation standards and ensuring all items are properly restocked and stored for use by dining room and kitchen staff.
  • Complete general cleanup and sanitation of kitchen and dining areas, including sinks, washing machines, tables, cooking ranges, shelves, cabinets, trash bins, floors, etc.
  • Maintain the dish machine and sinks, including checking detergent levels, cleaning filters, ensuring the sanitation levels are within the required range by utilizing the correct test strips, and reporting any issues promptly to the supervisor.
  • Ensure that the water is at the correct temperature to ensure optimum cleaning, rinsing, and sanitizing.
  • Maintain sanitizer logs for temperature and level, recording at breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily.
  • Transport all meals to the Connections for Living (CFL) neighborhood, ensuring that the correct temperatures are maintained during transit, and returning the cart to the kitchen in a timely manner.
  • Assist cooks with basic food preparation (washing produce, peeling vegetables, etc.), transport food carts, or serve residents as needed or directed.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of cleaning supplies, ensuring they are used and stored correctly, following all Safety Data Sheet (SDS) guidelines, and notifying the supervisor when new supplies are needed.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for staff, residents, and guests in accordance with established safety standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Understand and comply with federal, state, and local regulations, and company policies and procedures concerning the department.
  • Promote a spirit of teamwork and open communication through consistent coaching and recognition program utilization, in alignment with MBK principles and core values.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor, Executive Director, and/or designee.

Education Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • ServSafe certificate, preferred.
  • Food Handler's Permit, as required by the state.

Experience Requirements (in years):
  • Prior work experience in restaurant or food services kitchen or dish room operations, preferred; on-the-job training can be provided if the right aptitude and attitude exist.

Required Competencies/Licenses/Certifications:
  • Must be 18 years or older or have a proper work permit and authorization documentation.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation is preferred.
  • Must complete required Background clearances, health screening, and provide negative TB test results within 7 days of employment (must be within the last 6 months).
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to speak, write and read English and follow spoken and written directions.
  • Must possess the ability to always deal tactfully and professionally with personnel, residents, family members, and guests.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
  • Must be mobile and able to perform the physical requirements of the job, including walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, pulling, reaching overhead, and repetitive motion.
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods and transport dishes and utensils.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push up to 250 pounds, as necessary.
