What you will be doing:

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Operation and maintenance of core building systems, including plumbing, HVAC, kitchen equipment, and building automation systems. 
  • Responding to all guest and colleague maintenance issues in a timely fashion
  • Assisting other Maintenance colleagues as needed
  • Performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

  • A 4th Class Power Engineer Certification OR a Red Seal Trade Certification in one or more of the following trades: Appliance Service Technician; Carpenter; Electrician; Industrial Mechanic (Millwright); Instrumentation & Control Technician; Plumber; Refrigeration/HVAC Mechanic.
  • A minimum of one-year plant experience (in the last five years) working with tools and/or mechanical equipment.
  • Proven history of working well and problem solving with minimal supervision.
  • High level of responsibility and commitment.
  • Team player with proven success in relationship building.
  • Commitment to provide excellent service and exceed guests' expectations.
  • Completely fluent English language skills; both written and verbal.
  • Clear, precise, professional and helpful telephone manner.
  • Excellent organizational skills impeccable grooming and presentation.
  • Fluency in a second language would be considered an asset.

Additional Information

    Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):

    The position of Building Maintenance Engineer is physically demanding and is a rotational shift position.  The successful applicant must be willing to work a combination of days, nights, weekends and overtime as required. The successful applicant must be physically capable of standing/walking for 90% of shift, performing repetitive work, as well as lifting and carrying heavy loads. They must also be comfortable working outdoors in all elements.

    Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
