 Part-Time Delivery Driver / Courier

POSITION SUMMARY

The Part-Time Delivery Driver / Courier is responsible for providing safe, reliable, timely, and professional transportation of products, materials, documents, supplies, and other business-related items for League Industries and its customers.

This position serves as an important representative of The League for People with Disabilities and is expected to demonstrate professionalism, accountability, dependability, respect, and excellent customer service during every delivery.

The Delivery Driver / Courier will operate League vehicles or other authorized vehicles, complete assigned delivery routes, verify shipments, maintain accurate delivery records, and communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, customers, vendors, and other individuals encountered during the course of work.

The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, safety-conscious, courteous, and capable of working independently while maintaining communication with the team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSDelivery & Transportation
  • Safely transport products, materials, documents, supplies, and other authorized items to designated locations.

  • Complete assigned delivery routes in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Follow assigned schedules, routes, delivery instructions, and customer requirements.

  • Load, secure, transport, unload, and deliver items using appropriate safety procedures.

  • Verify delivery quantities and items before leaving the facility and upon delivery when required.

  • Obtain required signatures, delivery confirmations, receipts, or other documentation.

  • Return completed delivery documentation to the appropriate League Industries staff member.

  • Report missing, damaged, incorrect, or incomplete shipments immediately.

  • Assist with organizing delivery materials and preparing items for transportation.

Vehicle Safety & Maintenance
  • Operate League vehicles in accordance with Maryland law and The League's vehicle safety policies.

  • Conduct required vehicle safety inspections before operating the vehicle.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe vehicle.

  • Secure cargo appropriately to prevent damage or movement during transportation.

  • Report vehicle damage, mechanical concerns, accidents, traffic violations, or safety issues immediately.

  • Maintain required vehicle documentation.

  • Follow all applicable traffic laws and organizational transportation procedures.

  • Never operate a vehicle while impaired, fatigued, or otherwise unable to safely perform driving duties.

Customer Service & Professional Representation
  • Represent League Industries and The League professionally at all delivery locations.

  • Interact with customers, vendors, coworkers, and members of the community in a courteous and respectful manner.

  • Provide professional communication regarding delivery times, issues, or changes.

  • Maintain confidentiality regarding customer, participant, employee, and organizational information.

  • Respond appropriately to customer questions and refer issues outside the scope of the position to a supervisor.

  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude even during challenging situations.

Documentation & Communication
  • Maintain accurate delivery logs and required documentation.

  • Communicate delays, route changes, vehicle issues, delivery problems, or other concerns promptly.

  • Use organizational communication systems as required.

  • Maintain accurate records of mileage, deliveries, fuel, vehicle inspections, and other required information.

  • Follow established procedures for handling cash, receipts, paperwork, or other authorized materials, when applicable.

Warehouse & Operational Support
  • Assist with preparing orders for delivery.

  • Assist with loading and unloading materials using proper lifting and safety techniques.

  • Maintain an organized delivery staging area.

  • Assist League Industries staff with basic operational tasks when delivery responsibilities are complete.

  • Follow all applicable workplace safety procedures.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

The Delivery Driver / Courier is expected to:

  • Follow accident and incident reporting procedures.

  • Maintain awareness of pedestrians, participants, coworkers, customers, and other individuals while operating vehicles or moving materials.

  • Never engage in distracted driving, including unauthorized cellphone use while driving.
