Description
The purpose of this classification is to perform work functions associated with delivery and warehouse activities. The person in this classification will load/unload trucks and drive delivery truck to deliver merchandise to customer's home or business.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
  • Drives truck in assigned zone or area to deliver products purchased by customer; ensures safe operations of vehicles by assisting delivery truck drivers with directing trucks into unloading areas.
  • Loads truck in preparation for daily deliveries; unloads merchandise at customer location and sets up as necessary.
  • Obtains customer signature on receipt for pickup or delivery.
  • Records deliveries on delivery record and submits to appropriate management.
  • Monitors proper maintenance of and regular inspection of vehicles for adherence to safety practices; performs general maintenance of vehicles; records fuel/fluid usage and submits to management.
  • Unloads merchandise from warehouse and freight trucks.
  • Maintains cleanliness of store/warehouse interior and grounds and upholds the company's Delivery Standards.
  • Places stock on shelves or racks and sets up merchandise and sales promotion displays.
  • Assembles merchandise as required.
  • Assists with repossessions of goods.
  • Performs general maintenance and grounds keeping duties for warehouse and/or store.
  • Performs customer service inspections and/or repairs as needed.
  • Performs collection field calls to delinquent customers at the request of management.

Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED; six months experience in a distribution or warehouse environment; or any combination of training, experience and education which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. Must possess and maintain a valid State Drivers License and have a general familiarity with the delivery area. Must be at least 21yrs. old and be able to meet DOT requirements (examples: Medical Examiners Certification and Driver's DOT qualification file).

Human Interaction: Requires the ability to provide guidance, assistance, and/or interpretation to others regarding the application of procedures and standards to specific situations.
Equipment, Machinery, tools, and Materials Utilization: Requires the ability to operate equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials requiring complex and rapid adjustments.
Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference and/or descriptive data and information.
Mathematical Aptitude: Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; may require the ability to calculate decimals and utilize principles of fractions.
Functional Reasoning: Requires the ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Involves semi-routine standardized work with some latitude for independent judgment concerning choices of action.
Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in dealing with situations involving repetitive or short cycle operations or duties carried out according to set procedures.
