Job description

We are currently seeking a talented individual to become a Pool Attendant. An individual could be successful if they possess the following.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Pool Attendant is responsible for providing knowledgeable, prompt, friendly, and courteous service of food and beverages to our dining guests ensuring to exceed expectations. Always presents a friendly and professional image at the Hotel/Casino. The following and other duties may be assigned as necessary:
  • Enthusiastically supports, actively promotes, and demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards and programs.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in all departmental and company matters.
  • Provides impeccable guest service to all guests
  • Provides fast, friendly, professional and responsive guest service to the restaurant guests, bussers and restaurant host/hostess.
  • Maintains current and accurate information regarding menu (i.e., pronunciation, preparation techniques, seasonings, ingredients and plate presentation). Suggests items to guests based on expressed guest preference. Up-sells appetizers, beverages, desserts in accordance with restaurant service standards.
  • Working knowledge of computer especially POS system: Be able to use POS system to enter food and beverage orders into the system to ensure accurate preparation of product. When necessary be able to manually itemizes total, and present check for payment to correct guests.
  • Follows all cash handling and gaming guidelines.
  • Ensures proper set up and maintenance of service station, tables, and common areas thought-out all dining rooms.
  • Ensures that all silverware, glassware, flatware is polished, stocked, and set to service standards.
  • Ensures sufficient set ups for service station, including silverware, china, sugar creamers, iced tea and coffee according to business levels.
  • Knowledgeable in all liquor and wine service along with all state laws pertaining to sale and service of liquor and alcoholic beverages.
  • Delivers prepared food to the appropriate guests within designated time standards of completed production of order.
  • Monitors and resolves service issues for entire outlet according to service standards.
  • Assists bus help, as necessary, in bussing, cleaning and setting tables.
  • Maintains cleanliness of designated areas as directed in accordance with established health and safety standards.
  • Deep cleans restaurant equipment (tables, chairs, booths, soda and juice dispensers, coffee machines), as scheduled or required.
  • Operates and maintains equipment as required in accordance with established guidelines and safety procedures.
  • Knows and promotes current casino events and programs and can give guests directions to all casino areas.
  • Clears, cleans, resets, and maintains station during shift.
  • Assists other servers in giving the best possible service
  • Handles guests' receipts according to internal policy.
  • Remains up-to-date on casino events and hours of operation for all F&B outlets.
  • Follows established procedures and policies of the Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort.
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the al carte menu is mandatory, including daily features and specials that may not be available directly on the menu, including knowledge of all various liquors, beer and wines available
  • Set up orders (tables or trays) according to standards
  • Proactively look for guest service opportunities, and take ownership of requests
  • Maintain a professional and positive attitude in difficult situations
  • To respond to guest inquiries on pool activities and timing, on Spa & Resort, Spa Menu, and other information regarding the facility and services of the Spa and property
  • Enforce ALL facility policies and rules room rules & policies Break down and setting up of all pool equipment, chaise lounges, umbrellas
  • Must be able to lift or carry a minimum of 50 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks assigned
  • Must be willing to work outdoors in seasonal heat (100F+) or cold inclement weather
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests all levels of employees
  • Must be able to stand and walk throughout majority of shift
  • Working conditions may include extreme temperatures and sun exposure
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the pool area (ie removal of towels, dishes, ) and straighten pool furniture at the beginning of each shift, throughout the day and at the end of each shift so that the safety of the members will be protected, and the pool area will maintain its inviting image
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Two or more years' dining server experience required; fine dining preferred.
  • Casino experience preferred.
  • Must be able to handle several projects and tasks at the same time.
  • Must be able to perform the physical job duties of all Food & Beverage team members.
  • Must have the ability to interact with guests, staff and colleagues and resolve problems and conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job does not have supervisory responsibilities.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in in English may also be required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.
  • Must successfully complete R.S.A.
