Position Summary:

Discovery Life Sciences is a trusted provider of quality biospecimens and laboratory services to hundreds of researchers across the U.S. and around the world. The Phlebotomist contributes to our mission by utilizing phlebotomy and administrative skills to screen, schedule, consent, collect, and package specimens from donors enrolled in the Discovery Life Sciences clinical trial.

A Day in the Life of a Phlebotomist at Discovery Life Sciences:

  • Effectively communicate the process of the research trials with donors. Must be able to adapt education to the learning needs and/or level of the donor.
  • Screen, schedule, consent, and enroll donors for research trials
  • Determine whether donors meet the criteria to participate in research trials and specific orders by following Discovery Life Sciences policies, Regulatory guidelines, and clinical judgment.

Must-Have Qualifications (Education, Skills, Experience):

  • Must have excellent Phlebotomy skills
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask and prioritize assignments
  • Excellent computer skills to include Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • SalesForce experience is desirable but not required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain regular outreach to leads and prospective donors to meet enrollment requirements.
  • Assist in recruitment of potential donors as assigned by manager.
  • Maintain changes to donor information using source documents for charting in EMR; SalesForce
  • Communicate with Manager and other team members to address potential and immediate clinical concerns.
  • Manage all inventory for collections, shipping and supplies.
  • Obtain blood specimens by established venipuncture techniques, as well as urine, saliva, swabs, or other samples as ordered by the sponsor
  • Process, package, and route specimens appropriately while maintaining specimen integrity per protocol
  • Maintain cleanliness, safety compliance, and universal precautions in all work practices, remaining compliant to all health, safety and infection control requirements
  • Follow company policies and procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Respect the privacy of the personal information of patients, co-workers, and all individuals with whom the Company interacts
  • Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to the Company and its operations
  • Consistent and predictable attendance is an essential function of the position
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor. These may, on occasion, be unrelated to the position described here.

Compensation and Benefits:

Discovery Life Sciences is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices, and we strive to provide employees with total compensation packages that are market competitive. The base pay range for this position is $24 - $28 per hour. The exact base pay offered for this role will depend on various factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, skills, and experience.
