Job Title
Chief of Campus Police
Job Description

1. Supervise and coordinate campus security enforcement of College policies, campus rules, and regulations, and laws of the State of Mississippi.
2. Coordinate and conduct investigations of campus incidents.
3. Responsible for campus police response to campus emergencies.
4. Responsible for maintaining proper communication and positive public relations between campus police, the campus community, and the local community.
5. Responsible for maintaining communication and good working relationship with local law enforcement agencies, court personnel, District Attorney's office and other emergency response agencies.
6. Responsible for maintaining a working relationship with all departments on campus.
7. Responsible for assisting college employees in providing safety/security programming for students and College personnel.
8. Responsible for campus police department budget accounts and inventory.
9. Responsible for case logs, assignment of case numbers, and case files.
10. Responsible for maintenance of ARMS database for the campus.
11. Responsible for campus video camera security system.
12. Responsible for various monthly, quarterly, and annual compliance reporting data including, but not limited to: Cleary, Title IX, Security Reports, Drill Report, Training Reports, Lighting Surveys.
13. Responsible for overseeing NIBRS compliance.
14. Responsible for overseeing campus police force including dispatcher, and full and part-time officer hiring recommendations, terminations, personnel matters, shift scheduling, ensuring qualifications/training/certifications, etc.

Job Duties
1.Schedule officers for regular duty, campus activities, i.e., registration, sporting events, homecoming, etc., and arrange coverage of shifts when regularly scheduled officers call-in sick, have family emergencies, etc., and complete and submit time records.
2. Provide training and development for campus officers, ensure annual MGCCC and State training requirements are met for all officers, and maintain accurate training/certification records, remediate officers who fail to qualify, and report accordingly.
3. Complete and submit purchase requisitions for supplies and equipment, including uniforms, gear, armor, range supplies, etc.
4. Arrange for maintenance of police vehicles.
5. Lead and manage all threat assessments which require police detail.
6. Supervise the enforcement and processing of violations of College policies, campus rules and regulations, and State laws by campus police officers.
7. Coordinate pick-up/delivery of bank deposits.
8. Conduct annual inventory of campus security equipment.
9. Report security/safety concerns to appropriate personnel.
10. Coordinate the reporting of student violations to the Dean of Student Services.
11. Responsible for the maintenance of all evidence by current statutory and court approved evidentiary standards.
12. Coordinate and compile monthly drills and reporting to the appropriate administrators and committees.
13. Serve as an active member of the College-wide Safety and Emergency Management Team.
14. Ensure appropriate procedures are used by campus police officers when enforcing and processing violations.
15. Ensure that all police officers perform the following:

• a. Meet state minimum standards and qualifications.
• b. Maintain certification through BLEOST.
• c. Meet in-service training requirements.
• d. Complete and submit all required logs and forms.
• e. Report safety hazards and unsecured conditions found on campus.
• f. Perform public relations tasks such as giving directions to visitors, assist with campus event parking, and parking space reservations, etc.
• g. Cooperate with and assist maintenance personnel, such as reporting safety hazards or maintenance issues.
• h. Lock and unlock doors as required.
• i. Turn on and off campus lighting.
• j. Pick-up/delivery of campus bank deposits.
• k. Assist in the supervision of students at appropriate events and activities.
• l. Monitor and enforce traffic/parking regulations.
• m. Notify the Dean of Business Services and other appropriate personnel of serious incidents/emergencies and follow appropriate procedures.
• n. Prepare all required reports, evidence and other related materials for judicial hearings and criminal court.
• o. Maintain good working relationships with local law enforcement and emergency response agencies.
• p. Follow proper flag etiquette and raise and lower all campus flags in accordance.

16. Perform unannounced inspections of campus police operations.
17. Monitor security camera systems.
18. Report security personnel and operational problems to the Dean of Business Services.
19. Perform other duties as assign by the Dean of Business Services or Campus Vice President.
Mandatory Qualifications
(M1) Minimum of an Associate's Degree with eight years' experience as a certified police officer.
(M2) Minimum of five years of supervisory experience in law enforcement or related security position.
(M3) Graduate of an accredited police academy.
(M4) Current Certified police officer in the State of Mississippi through the Mississippi Board on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Training, or eligible for immediate certification/recertification.
(M5) Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Outlook, and internet.
(M6) Excellent oral and written communication skills and experience presenting to large groups.
(M7) Familiarity and understanding of community policing.
Desirable Qualifications
(D1) Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institute of higher learning.
(D2) Police or Security experience in a community college or educational setting.
(D3) Incident Command Systems and National Incident Management Systems Certification (NIMS).
(D4) Demonstrated law enforcement investigative experience.
