About This Role

The position of Grant Writer at GSRV is integral to successful fundraising, particularly inย identifying, cultivating, and securing funding from foundations and corporations.ย Theย Grant Writerย isย constantlyย identifyingย current and new relationships with foundations and corporations,ย quicklyย assessing GSRVโ€™s qualifications, working with program leaders, and writing grant proposals to support GSRV and program priorities.ย The Grant Writer willย utilizeย an innovative way of communicating GSRVโ€™s stories and aligning these stories with funding priorities fromย foundations and corporations.ย At times, the Grant Writer will build relationships and meet with grant officers to understand their priorities so that the GSRVโ€™s stories can be articulated in funding proposals.ย ย 

This position requires strong organization, reliability, and a willingness to learn. While it does not have direct people management responsibilities, it has a high impact on outcomes, relationships, and the experience of girls, volunteers, and partners.

Essential Functions

  • Serves as the lead grant writer for GSRV as it relates to all foundation and corporationย grants โ€“ includes writing and gathering organizational documents and reports forย submission.ย 
  • Researchesย andย identifiesย potential funders andย alignsย their priorities with GSRV programs and services.ย 
  • Developsย andย maintainsย trackingย sheetsย of all local and federal funders who support GSRVโ€™s work.ย 
  • Creates grant proposal submission strategies andย presents toย leadership for approval before submission.ย 
  • Partners with program staff to understand program priorities to articulate grant proposals.ย 
  • Communicates all grant outcomes with program staff to ensure outcomes are met.ย 
  • Supports all annual grant reports.ย 
  • Oversees post-award grant management and delegatesย grant outcome responsibilities toย appropriate departmentsย (programming, finance, compliance,ย etc.)ย 
  • Partners with other development team members on grant submission and award communication.ย 
  • Entersย all awards intoย Raiserโ€™s Edgeย and continuouslyย tracksย reporting progress.ย 
  • Collaborates with the finance team on all financial and accounting reports and obligations.ย ย 
  • May have toย submitย up to 30+ grant applications annually.ย ย 
  • Support GSRVโ€™s fundraising initiatives to increase funds annually.ย ย

  • Collaborate with colleagues across the council, GSUSA staff, and colleagues from other councils.ย ย 
  • Activelyย participateย in all-staff meetings, staff in-service training, and other meetings.ย 
  • Whenย representingย the council to both internal and external audiences, articulate GSRVโ€™s desired image and position to all audiences.ย 
  • Actively support the councilโ€™s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, access, racial justice, and anti-racism. Conduct all activities with a high degree of cultural competency.ย

What You Bring

Required

  • Minimumย 5+ years ofย grant writing experience, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.ย 
  • Must be able to work independently, manage multipleย grantย projects, andย maintainย a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.ย 
  • Ability to interpret andย utilizeย data to tell stories, including the ability toย appropriatelyย cite data sources.ย 
  • Ability to tell compelling stories andย alignย stories toย funders'ย expectations.ย 
  • Demonstrated experience using a CRM. Experience usingย Raiserโ€™s Edge NXTย is a plus.ย 
  • Excellent technical computer skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.ย 
  • Excel knowledge including how to create tables, insert basic functions, perform basic analysis, and create reports.ย 
  • Comfortable working on remote servers, navigating cloud environments, and navigating multiple data applications at the same time.ย 
  • Ability to independently create measures to ensure data integrity and manage a multi-step workflow.ย 
  • A self-starter whoย can work independently with minimal oversight and takes initiative; is flexible, adaptable, self-manager, organized, and has a strong attention to detail; thrives in anย ever-changing/fast-paced environment.ย 
  • Proven communication skills, including written, in person, and over theย phone;ย demonstratedย ability to work with a wide range of sensitive and confidentialย issues;ย andย communicatesย effectively with a diverse group of girls, volunteers, and staff.ย 
  • Ability toย workย a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends as required by position responsibilities.ย
