Position Overview
At Animal Medical Center of Cumming in Cumming, Georgia, we are a team of dedicated animal care professionals operating a full-service veterinary hospital with a large boarding facility. We are hard-working, confident, and enthusiastic about our profession and provide exceptional medicine, boarding, and playtime to our community. If you're passionate about animal care and want hands-on experience in a supportive, collaborative environment, we'd love to have you on our team.
Animal Medical Center of Cumming is hiring kennel assistants. We are looking for hard working, confident, and enthusiastic people to join our team. We are a veterinary hospital with a large boarding/kennel facility. We provide boarding, playtimes and daycare services.
Key Responsibilities
  • Walking dogs.
  • Ability to oversee multiple dogs in an outside setting for playtimes.
  • Providing fresh food and water.
  • Cleaning animal waste, spilled food and other debris from kennel.
  • Checking dogs/cats in for boarding, playtime, and daycare.
  • Taking animals to and from the kennel.
  • Bathing.
  • Be able to read body language and/or signs of aggression.
  • Ensuring safety of everyone.
  • Assisting other hospital staff.
  • Clean, fold, and stock kennel laundry throughout the clinic.
  • Confident in handling animals.

Qualifications (Required)
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this position
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Passionate with caring for animals, especially with dogs
  • Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors
  • This is a strenuous job that requires a lot of lifting, cleaning, and constant motion
  • Depending on functional area of assignment, tasks may include standing for long period of times/walking
  • May involve some stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
  • Some tasks involve the periodic performance of moderately physically demanding work, usually involving lifting or carrying moderately heavy animals (up to 50 pounds)

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
  • Some experience working at a kennel or animal hospital preferred

Schedule
  • Saturday from 7:30AM-2PM; 4PM-5PM
  • Sunday from 8AM-9AM; 4PM-5PM
  • 1 or 2 weekday shifts from 7:30AM-6PM
  • Holidays
