Job description

- Must be physically located in Canada
- This is a contract position with flexible hours
We’re looking for a hands-on backend developer to help close out open tickets across the data warehouse and Power BI environment. This role is focused on backend problem-solving, data logic, ETL-style workflows, and root-cause resolution. The ideal candidate will be highly resourceful, work well with autonomy, and move quickly from issue to an acceptable resolution.
What they’ll do
- Triage and resolve open support tickets
- Work across the data warehouse, Power BI, SSRS, and related reporting tools
- Debug SQL, backend logic, data mismatches, and dashboard/report defects
- Investigate source-to-report issues and trace problems back through the data layer
- Implement backend fixes and validate outcomes before closing tickets
- Help stabilize and clean up existing reporting workflows
- Support both break/fix work and smaller enhancement requests
- Coordinate with stakeholders as needed to keep work moving
What we’re looking for
- Strong backend development skills

- Resourceful, fast-moving, and able to find workable solutions without heavy handholding
Ideal profile
- Practical backend problem-solver who can move between systems and source layers
- Comfortable with ambiguity and changing priorities
- Strong at tracing report issues back to backend logic and fixing root cause
- Can make good judgment calls and keep work moving without constant direction
Success in this role looks like
- Tickets are resolved quickly and with acceptable outcomes
- The person can work independently and keep momentum without close supervision
- Backend logic and reporting outputs are more reliable
- Problems are solved at the source instead of patched around
- The team has a dependable technical partner who can drive issues to resolution
