The Opportunity
The Production Planner is the key person who ensures that customer orders get out the door as committed. As such, the role requires someone who thrives in the day-to-day pressures of a manufacturing plant and enjoys planning & prioritizing work while at the same time maintaining strong partnership and communication with other departments. Success in this role is determined by the person's ability to proactively analyze sales orders, prioritize competing demands and constructively drive action to ensure the site meets its shipment goals. The flavor business is very dynamic, and the successful candidate needs to be able to thrive in an environment of high levels of change while maintaining attention to detail with a sense of urgency.
Responsibilities
  • Calculating and creating production work orders
  • Identifying raw material issues and partnering with Procurement to resolve them
  • Ensure smart lot utilization of inventory
  • Lead fast & efficient review process to flag concerns & drive actions
  • Managing orders within planning and scheduling processes until final release to production
  • Coordinate with sister sites & 3rd party locations to manage raw, intermediate and finished good needs
  • Partner with production team to balance workload & ensure products get out the door as planned
  • Partner with warehouse to ensure inventory is accurate & current
  • Partner with Sales & Customer Service
  • Maintain strong, positive, effective communication
  • Review all new orders and change requests in your assigned production sectors within the allotted time
  • Ensure credibility internally and to customers in terms of delivery time
  • Accurately provide shipping dates to customer service team and convey any changes that occur related to production or raw material delays
  • Partner with other sites to ensure clear, effective intersite material & production planning.
  • A strong candidate will have the opportunity to eventually serve as backup for the site production planning manager. This would require:
    • Proficiency in planning for all the various production systems on & off-site
    • Demonstrated strong communication skills & ability to manage the various meetings and communication tools & processes

The Skills you will bring to the team
  • The successful candidate must either already have or be able to quickly build fluency in using ERP planning modules (Sage, SAP, ...).
    • The role requires proficiency across the standard suite of Office tools with strength in Excel.
  • Prior planning & data analysis experience
    • While prior planning experience is not required, candidates with this experience are preferred. Particularly regarding food or other products with shelf life constraints.
    • Candidates will need to demonstrate the skills required to be successful in this role.
  • Overall work experience
    • Prior work experience (full-time, part-time, internship) is required.
    • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly food or similar regulatory requirements, is preferred.
  • Educational background
    • Bachelor's degree preferred (business administration, engineering, economics, or supply chain)
