Pima County's Department of Finance and Risk Management is seeking a dynamic, motivated part-time intern to join our Grants Finance Division. The successful candidate will work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment supporting grant financial activities for County departments. This internship offers hands-on experience with grant budgeting, financial reporting, data analysis, and compliance support, as well as exposure to County financial systems and processes. The intern will assist with extracting and analyzing data using tools such as Excel and other financial systems, and will gain insight into the full lifecycle of grant financial management. We are seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills and an interest in public sector finance and grant administration.
NOTE: This internship position is in-person and in-office.
This classification is in the unclassified service and is exempt from the Pima County Merit System Rules.
Essential Functions:
As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, this classification may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. Minimum Qualifications:
Recent graduate from or currently a sophomore, junior, or senior at an accredited college or university with a major in accounting, finance, business analytics, or a closely related field.

  • Recently graduated or is currently a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior at an accredited college or university with a major in accounting, finance, or a closely related field.

Selection Procedure:
Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Additional assessments/testing may be required as part of the selection process.

Licenses and Certificates: Some positions require a valid Arizona Class D driver license at the time of application or appointment. Failure to obtain / maintain the required licensure shall be grounds for termination.
Special Notice Items: The County requires pre-employment background checks. Successful candidates will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history. A prior criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify a candidate from employment with the County.
