River Edge is actively looking for a two part-time Registered Nurse to join our team at the Crisis Service Center in Milledgeville, GA. As a Registered Nurse in this critical role, you will play a key part in providing essential healthcare services within our Crisis Service Center. Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Completes physical & mental health assessments.
  • Develops care plans for patients, helping them be as independent as possible.
  • Administers and monitors treatment regimens.
  • Administers prescribed medications, making constant adjustments commensurate with a patient's condition under the supervision of qualified medical staff.
  • Observe and report behavioral changes.
  • Maintains control of drugs and medications.
  • Helps patients improve their coping abilities.
  • Works with patients' families to help improve the patient's abilities & help them deal with family members' mental illnesses.
  • Records all care information concisely, accurately, and completely, promptly, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms.
  • Performs other position-related duties as assigned, depending on the assignment setting.
  • Remain in compliance with internal and external policies, procedures, regulations, and standards, including all of River Edge's policies and procedures and Quality Assurance Plan, DBHDD requirements, State Licensing standards, County Monitoring requirements, and managed care regulations.

Qualifications:
  • Current nursing license, in good standing with the Georgia State licensing board.
  • Minimum of two (2) years Psychiatric experience.
  • All applicants must pass a satisfactory background clearance and pre-employment drug test.
  • Provide 2 Professional references (Former employers only, no family members).
  • Must have knowledge and experience with the chronically mentally ill population.
  • Must have strong clinical skills.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must have the ability to multi-task and remain organized.

Competencies:
  • Nursing Assessments: Proficiency in conducting comprehensive nursing assessments, including evaluating food/nutrition status, pain levels, and other relevant health indicators to develop individualized care plans.
  • Medication Management: Ability to administer medications safely and accurately, monitor their effects, and make necessary adjustments based on patient responses, adhering to established protocols and under the supervision of qualified medical personnel.
  • Laboratory Procedures: Skill in collecting urine samples and blood draws for diagnostic testing, ensuring proper handling, labeling, and submission of specimens to the laboratory while maintaining adherence to infection control protocols.
  • Observation and Reporting: Strong observational skills to detect subtle behavioral changes or clinical indicators, and the ability to communicate these observations effectively through concise and accurate reporting to the healthcare team, facilitating timely interventions and adjustments to care plans.
  • Patient Education: Capacity to provide clear and empathetic education to patients and their families regarding symptoms, treatment plans, medication regimens, and other aspects of their care, empowering them to actively participate in their health management and decision-making processes.
