The Sports Supervisor is responsible for conducting both youth and adult sports in a safe and consistent manner. The Sports Supervisor position is a part-time role that primarily works Saturday mornings during league play and select weekday evenings during practices, clinics, and special events. The Sports Supervisor is responsible for the health, safety, and welfare of each participant enrolled in the program. Must demonstrate leadership, show active participation and enthusiasm on the court or field at practices and games in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Mattoon Area Family YMCA. Sports may include: Outdoor Soccer, Basketball, Indoor Soccer and Adult Softball.
Essential Functions:
1. Possess the ability to model the YMCA core values: caring, honest, respect and responsibility.
2. Coordinate game day operations including facility setup, equipment distribution, field and court preparation, and program breakdown.
3. Supervise practice nights, and game days to ensure programs operate safely, efficiently and according to YMCA Standards.
4. Serve as the primary on-site contact for coaches, officials, volunteers, participants, and parents during practices and games.
5. Assist with training and supporting volunteer coaches and program volunteers.
6. Ensure all game and practice equipment is available, properly maintained and stored appropriately following program activities.
7. Conduct Facility, field and equipment safety inspections before practices and games and address any hazards immediately.
8. Monitor participant behavior and sportsmanship while helping maintain a positive and inclusive environment.
9. Read and understand the rules that have been developed for YMCA leagues.
10. Enforce YMCA league rules, policies, and participant code of conduct standards.
11. Respond appropriately to accidents, incidents, and emergencies and complete all required documentation in a timely manner.
12. Assist with program registration events, clinics, evaluations, picture days, tournaments, and special sports events.
13. Maintain accurate attendance records, equipment inventories, and program reports.
14. Communicate effectively with coaches, participants, families, and staff regarding schedules, weather updates, and program information.
15. Support program marketing efforts by assisting with participant engagement, photos, special events, and community outreach opportunities.
16. Assist the Sr. Director of Sports, Aquatics & Facility with program evaluations and recommendations for improving participant experience and program growth.
17. Perform other duties as assigned that support YMCA sports operations.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and be able to run to keep up with the pace of the play.

Requirements:Qualifications
1. Background in athletics, organized sports, recreation or officiating
2. Must be available to work Saturday Mornings and weekday evenings throughout sport seasons.
3. Knowledge of the sport and basic understanding of the rules.
4. Valid driver’s license
5. Requirements within 30 days of hire include: CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens; Sexual Harassment Awareness training, DCFS Mandated Abuse Reporter.
6. Completion of all required safety trainings/renewals.
