Job description

Job Summary
This position provides essential administrative and operational support to the Communication Sciences and Disorders service line which includes audiologists and speech-language pathologists and enables this clinical team as well as leadership to function efficiently. This role will provide operational support by managing and summarizing data, oversee scheduling practices, oversee financial reconciliation, and provide functional supervision of a patient service intermediate and patient service associate. The role adds value by ensuring timely HR and payroll support for clinical staff, coordinating purchasing and provider support processes, assisting with PSV and regulatory documentation, and maintaining operational continuity.
Responsibilities*
  • Provide administrative support to the Director of Communication Sciences & Disorders Program and to the department of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology for all clinical and business functions.
  • Analyze, oversee and implement changes to systems including billing, scheduling and data management.
  • Manage the daily operations of the UH Speech-Language Pathology Clinic
  • Functionally supervise the outpatient SLP support team (1 Patient Services Intermediate and 1 Patient Services Associate) as well as the Purchasing Clerk.
  • Liaison for 120 Audiologists and SLPs for HR, travel and other administrative duties.
  • Reconcile UH-SLP General, UH-SLP, MH Peds SLP budgets on a monthly basis.
  • Oversee and manage purchasing functions, including P-Card, supply ordering, inventory control, and travel expenses.
  • Maintain equipment inventories
  • Manage systems to produce monthly reports of each clinician's clinical productivity and compliance with documentation requirements.
  • Oversee collaboration with Human Resource transactions, including onboarding, offboarding.
  • Maintain Personnel Blue Folder Compliance.
  • Assist in development and implementation of policies and procedures to meet regulatory agency mandates.
  • Oversee and manage the Communication Sciences & Disorders Sharepoint Sites

Required Qualifications*
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Senior Level: Minimum 5 years of experience in progressive administrative tasks related to health care
  • Intermediate Level: Minimum 3 years for intermediate underfill) in progressive administrative tasks related to health care

Desired Qualifications*
  • Ability to coordinate complex patient needs across multiple specialties and operational departments
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, customer service and technical skills, including use of MiChart, Wolverine Access systems, Excel, Word, Power Point and Microsoft 365.
  • Ability to work with administrative leadership, procurement team and operational partners throughout Michigan Medicine
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work independently and effectively problem-solve in a fast-paced environment
