Job description

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Part-Time Contract Paycom Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting payroll processing, managing HRIS and payroll systems, and ensuring compliance with labor laws and financial standards. Your expertise will help streamline payroll operations, maintain accurate records, and uphold confidentiality across all processes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced environment while honing your skills in payroll management and accounting software.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly experienced, independent Paycom Specialist to help a key client fully implement, clean up, and maximize their investment in the Paycom platform. The ideal consultant will audit the current configuration, streamline underutilized modules, build custom workflows, and train internal staff. This is a hands-on technical and functional role focused on driving full platform adoption and operational efficiency.

Scope of Work & Key Responsibilities
Audit Setup: Review current payroll configuration, General Ledger (GL) tracking, and employee profile data structure to identify gaps or errors.

Resolve Inefficiencies: Correct data mapping errors and clean up historical records to ensure a stable foundation for advanced features.

Feature Deployment: Configure and launch underutilized Paycom modules

Workflow Automation: Optimize the end-to-end employee lifecycle within Paycom, eliminating manual workarounds outside the system.

Tailor Operations: Design and build complex time-card profiles, shift differentials, and scheduling rules tailored to the client's operational policies.

Advanced Analytics: Create custom HR and payroll reports, custom fields, and executive dashboards to improve data-driven decision-making.

Develop Materials: Create simplified, client-specific training guides and documentation for different user tiers.

Lead Training: Conduct live, hands-on training sessions for system administrators, managers, and general staff to ensure high platform adoption.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Paycom Expertise: Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience configuring, implementing, and managing the Paycom platform.

Implementation Background: Proven track record of taking companies from basic usage to full module utilization.

Technical Savvy: Deep understanding of payroll tax laws, GL mapping, time/attendance logic, and complex reporting structures.

Communication Skills: Excellent instructional skills with the ability to explain complex technical workflows to non-technical employees.

Autonomy: Ability to manage project timelines independently and interface directly with corporate stakeholders.

Bi-Lingual Spanish a plus

Skills

  • Proficiency in payroll systems including Paycom, Workday, ADP, Ceridian, Kronos, UltiPro, PeopleSoft or similar platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of HR systems such as HRIS platforms and time & attendance systems.
  • Experience with accounting software like QuickBooks or other financial tools; familiarity with general ledger accounting is a plus.
  • Understanding of employment & labor law, payroll tax regulations, and labor law compliance requirements.
  • Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy; proficiency in spreadsheets for data analysis and reporting.
  • Solid background in accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, journal entries, and account reconciliation.
  • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly while maintaining professionalism under tight deadlines.
