What is a part time content editor?

Part time content editors are professionals who review, revise, and improve written content for organizations or publishers on a part-time basis. Their responsibilities typically include proofreading, checking for accuracy, ensuring clarity and consistency, and sometimes coordinating with writers or other editors. Part time content editors may work remotely or onsite, and their hours are often flexible to accommodate other commitments. This role is ideal for individuals with strong language skills who are seeking work-life balance or additional income. They are commonly found in industries such as media, marketing, publishing, and education.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time content editor?

To thrive as a Part Time Content Editor, you need excellent writing, grammar, and editing skills, often supported by a degree in English, journalism, or a related field. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), SEO tools, and editing software such as Grammarly or Microsoft Word is typically required. Attention to detail, time management, and strong communication help editors meet deadlines and collaborate effectively. These skills ensure content is accurate, engaging, and aligned with organizational standards, even within part-time hours.

How does a part time content editor typically collaborate with writers and other team members to ensure content quality?

As a part-time content editor, you'll often work closely with writers, marketing teams, and sometimes graphic designers to review, revise, and perfect content before publication. Communication is typically managed through collaboration platforms or scheduled meetings to provide feedback and align on content goals. Maintaining consistency in style and tone across various pieces is crucial, and you'll frequently coordinate with others to clarify expectations or resolve ambiguities. Despite the part-time schedule, responsiveness and adaptability are important to keep content projects on track and uphold quality standards.

Position Overview

CMG San Antonio Radio is looking for part-time On-Air Talent to bring energy, personality, and local connection to nights on Hits 105.3, with fill-in opportunities on Y100. This is more than covering an air shift—we’re looking for someone who knows how to create a show, engage listeners, and connect with audiences on-air, in person, and across social media. The ideal candidate is collaborative, creative, and driven, with a strong work ethic and the ability to work within format guidelines to support ratings, revenue goals, and the interests of the San Antonio audience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare compelling show content, including format-related, popular-culture, and local content; create and post web and social media updates; and write and deliver commercial or personal endorsement copy.
  • Host regular on-air shifts and additional voice-tracked shifts that keep listeners engaged and connected.
  • Partner closely with the Program Director to develop relatable content, execute the station format, and help deliver strong ratings results.
  • Operate the control board and edit phone segments, interviews, and other audio to support a polished on-air product.
  • Represent the station at remotes, appearances, and live group events, as assigned.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Promotions to support revenue opportunities, including promotions and personal endorsements.
  • Maintain year-round availability, including holidays.
Minimum Qualifications
  • At least one year of on-air experience.
  • A confident on-air presence with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated success contributing to ratings and revenue performance.
  • Experience operating on-air and production equipment.
  • Experience using audio editing software, such as Adobe Audition.
  • Comfort using audio delivery and automation systems, such as Wide Orbit or Audiovault, along with word processing, audio editing, and web/social media tools.
  • Primary show and shift will be at night; flexibility is required to support weekends and other shifts when needed.
  • Strong social media skills and the ability to connect with audiences across platforms.
  • A strong work ethic and a team-first approach.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in CHR and/or Country formats is a plus.
