Job Description:

Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for their Campus Security Officer (Part-Time)position in the Campus Safety Division. This position is located atATC'sMainCampus, which is just South ofDowntown Atlanta.

Under general supervision, the Campus Security Officer (Part-Time) will patrol assigned areas and ensure safety of campus buildings and grounds for a technical college. Campus Security Officers (Part-Time) also manage traffic flow and enforces parking regulations. Campus Security Officers (Part-Time) must always contact Campus Police, of any of the following Incidents:Traffic Accidents, Vandalism, Theftsand any other Criminal Acts committed on the Atlanta Technical College campus. Campus Security Officers (P/T) will perform administrative duties, patrol an assigned area and checkCampus buildings for unauthorized personnel during opening and after closing hours. Campus Security Officers (P/T) must be able to work independently and make common sense decisions and follow policy. This position is a highly visible, front-facing and customer-centered positionand requires the applicant to be courteous, polite, and informativeto the Faculty, Studentsand Citizens that visit Atlanta Technical College. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. This is a part-time position, up to twenty-nine (29) hours each week.

Campus Security Officers must possess the following:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical materials, and/or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondenceand instructional materials.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, managers, and the general public.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of both concrete and abstract ideas.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
  • Maintain automobile insurance coverage and have consistent access to an automobile.

REQUIRED PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sitand use hands to operate instructional equipment and computers. The employee must be able to lift and/or move objects up to fifty (50) pounds, at any given time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance, close, color, and peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.All applicants, if selected will receive on the job training, in turning Alarm Systems On/Off Checking Campus Doors and Buildings and Writing Security Reports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess and demonstrate a High School diploma or equivalent. Must possess and demonstrate the ability to work well with others and have excellent written and oral communication skills.Must be available to work Weekends, Days, Evenings, Mornings and must be willing to be On-Call.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference may be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess and demonstrate previous working experience in a safety monitoring environment, or law enforcement or military experience. Must possess and demonstrate the ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Must possess and demonstrate the abilityto conduct investigations and prepare reports, in additionto enforcingcampus regulations.
