Description
Fitness Floor staff respond to member concerns, keep the fitness floor safe and ensure that the equipment is clean and working properly. Staff members also promote and inform the members of the additional services available to them at The J and assist the Member Experience and Personal Training Supervisors.
Schedule and Benefits
  • Part-time, varied hours needed; primarily afternoons, evenings and weekends
  • Free membership to The J

Essential Functions
  • Respond to member concerns and ideas in timely and appropriate manner
  • Conduct equipment orientations
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and functional work environment
  • Provide excellent customer service to members
  • Responsible for daily sterilization of equipment
  • Educate members on fitness floor policies & enforce these policies
  • Communicate any ideas or fitness floor concerns to Supervisor, Member Experience
  • Work closely with Supervisor to ensure equipment cleaning and maintenance schedule is routinely completed
  • Stay alert, aware and engaged with work-related tasks at all times

Requirements
  • Basic fitness knowledge
  • Excellent customer services skills
  • Able to proactively build and strengthen relationships with members
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Interest in attaining personal training/instructor certification or genuine interest in wellness preferred, but not required
  • Previous experience in a fitness center environment preferred, but not required
  • Current CPR, AED and First Aid certification, preferred but not required
  • Flexible schedule helpful - morning, evening and weekend hours may be available

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and return weights to the storage racks (0-50 pounds)
  • Ability to stand and move around freely
