Recovery Housing Advocate (Arrigoni)
NUWAY is currently looking for candidates to work at our Arrigoni location in a part-time capacity as a Recovery Housing Advocate. The ideal candidate for this role would have past experience in mental health or substance abuse and have both weekday and weekend availability.

Position Overview
Recovery Housing Advocate’s supervise and manage resident’s behavior and help manage resident crisis situations when necessary. Recovery Housing Advocates require self-confidence, professionalism and the ability to exercise individual discretion and judgment. They must manage competing demands on their time and adhere to program schedule and rules. This includes situations where a resident may be under the influence of a controlled substance or struggling with mental health symptoms; the Recovery Housing Advocate will respond in a professional, therapeutic and positive manner. They must be able to react and respond to medical emergencies conveying a positive and professional image to residents, staff and visitors. Recovery Housing Advocates must be able to maintain resident confidentiality in accordance with state and federal guidelines and HIPAA requirements.
Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required:
  • Age 18 or older
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification and Medication Administration certificate obtained within 30 days of starting work
  • Able to pass Minnesota DHS background study
  • Ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds
  • Have skills and knowledge acquired through at least one of the following:
    • A course of study in a health or human services related field leading to a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science or Associate’s degree;
    • One year of experience with the target population served;
    • Experience as a certified peer specialist according to Minnesota Statutes, section 256B.0615; or
    • Meet the requirements for unlicensed personnel under Minnesota Statutes, sections 144A.43 to 144A.483
  • Completion of vulnerable adult mandated reporter training
  • Completion of orientation training when offered by the Department
  • Physical Demands: Sitting for extended periods of time. Daily use of general office and/or residential facility equipment. Lifting (max 50 pounds), minimal reaching, bending and stooping. Ability to effectively navigate program or office environment such as ascending and descending steps, passing through doorways and entrances, and accessing program/office facilities
  • Proficiently understand, follow instructions, and communicate effectively in English. Able to effectively document services in writing formatted in English.
Preferred:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Hold a current driver's license appropriate to the vehicle used if transporting recipients of Housing Support
  • Previous experience in an addiction treatment facility, residential facility or experience working in the substance use disorder and/or mental health field
  • Competent computer skills and able to effectively enter information in various systems
