Job Description

AECOM is seeking a part-time Senior Construction Inspector, Civil - Airports to be based in Rocky Hill, CT for immediate employment.

This position is in our Transportation Aviation Business Line. The position involves construction inspection of airport projects dealing with airfield safety, standards, improvement, and expansion programs.

  • Performs construction administration and construction inspection.
  • Serve as independent Senior Construction (Civil) Inspector on the construction phase of airport projects within the region led by our Rocky Hill office. Supervise daily construction activities and document progress and conditions.
  • Facilitate the construction management of the project through coordination with the Project Manager, Design Team, Contractor, and Owner.
  • Informal task supervision and mentorship of CAD Staff, Designers, and other Junior Engineers/Inspectors at the direction of the Project Manager.
  • Tracks quantities and work progress utilizing field measurements and other design software.
  • Travel to airport project sites (expected 100% field work). Position requires ability to reside as airport project sites for length of project if not located within driving distance. Position involves work in all weather conditions, varying shifts, and weekends.
  • Review and enforce designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematics, and final working drawings of construction plans related to airport development projects including runways, taxiways, aprons, hangars, terminals, and other airport facilities.
  • Review and enforce construction specifications for airport development projects per FAA Advisory Circular 150/5370-10 and State requirements.
  • Review reports, schedules, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates.
  • Collects and analyzes data to support construction phase of projects.
  • Conduct progress meetings with Contractor and construction Stakeholders.
  • Uses various computer software to support work.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with other airport/civil engineering, architectural, and engineering disciplines, sub-consultants, Utility companies, permitting agencies, contractors, government and regulatory agencies, and clients.
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed-upon budget and schedule.
Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma plus 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Due to the nature of this job, U.S. citizenship is required
  • Valid Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Five years related post-graduate experience in construction inspection for airport-related projects.
  • Able to work in an outdoor construction environment. 
  • Advanced Experience with Microsoft Office Software
  • Read, write, and communicate effectively in the English language
