Position Overview
iCode Severna Park is seeking enthusiastic and experienced STEM/Computer Science Instructors to join its fast growing after-school program. The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge in computer science and the ability to connect with students individually, encouraging and inspiring them as they innovate, collaborate, and create technology. They will be responsible for delivering engaging instructional sessions and creating a fun learning experience that helps students master the iCode belt system. The instructor will also evaluate each student's progress within the program.
Key Responsibilities
  • Teach and educate students according to guidelines provided by iCode.
  • Manage an orderly classroom at all times.
  • Provide meaningful feedback about class material and student dynamics in the classroom in weekly status reports.
  • Assess, record and report on the development, progress, attainment and behavior of students.
  • Provide updates to parents on students activities and progress on a weekly basis.
  • Treats students equally and fairly.
  • Present a professional manner at all times.
  • Maintain exceptional classroom standards.
Qualifications
  • Experience in HTML, JavaScipt, Alice and Python.
  • Experience using GameMaker and Unity is desirable.
  • Experience in PHP, SQL, C++, Java, Lua, Unix, or Scratch is desirable.
  • General knowledge of Agile methodologies.
  • Positive attitude, outgoing and excellent people skills.
  • Dependable and flexible to work evenings and weekends.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with students ranging from K-12.
  • Strong problemsolving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Being able to perform well under pressure.
  • Freshman, Sophomore, Junior or Seniors pursing a AA / BS in Computer Science.
  • Exceptions can be made for students who are graduates of the iCode Program.
  • Exception also for exceptional students in High School with a career focus in Computer Science and active leadership role in a high school STEAM club.

  • Stay on schedule provided by campus director/manager.
  • No social media usage while at work.
  • While on the clock, employees time is 100% committed towards iCode.
  • Perform tasks within the timeline provided by manager.
  • Perform tasks within reasonable expectations of quality of work.
  • Offer creative solutions to issues and problems.
  • Employee must clock in and clock out at all times while reporting to work.
  • Must be in proper work attire.
  • Must be a team player. Must have great customer service skills.
  • Must adhere by HIPAA and confidentiality guidelines

Work Schedule: We offer both year-round and seasonal opportunities. Year-round staff must be available during after-school hours typically M-F (2:30 PM 7:30 PM) and Saturdays, with the potential for extra hours based on program needs. Seasonal hires are required to instruct during our JuneAugust summer camps. We seek flexible, part-time candidates whose availability aligns with our rotating class schedule.
Work Location: Primary Location will be Severna Park, MD with some needs to travel to other locations to teach as required.
