Job description

Be the next member of our growing team at Browns Restaurant Group (BRG). We are a multi-brand restaurant company developing and supporting concepts within our corporate and franchise communities.


As Kitchen Equipment & CAD Technical Specialist, you are responsible for all aspects of the design and technical coordination of Browns Restaurant Groups back-of-house commercial kitchen and bar/service areas for both new build and renovation projects. You will develop accurate back of house kitchen layouts; commercial equipment and custom stainless steel fabrication requirements that support operational kitchen workflows, food safety standards and overall restaurant concept design.

You will work closely with the Interior Designers, kitchen vendors and Culinary team, this role translates culinary and operational kitchen requirements into well-coordinated technical drawing packages and construction documentation.

This is a part time position. We are open to either a part time, permanent employee who can work out of the office three days per week, or an independent contractor who can support us on a project basis.


WHAT YOULL DO:

  • Develop functional commercial kitchen and back of house layouts aligned with Browns design and culinary standards.
  • Prepares and maintains AutoCAD drawings including consistent and accurate Masters updates for buyout equipment and custom stainless-steel details.
  • Coordinates kitchen and bar drawings with architectural, interior design, mechanical, electrical and plumbing partners.
  • Coordinates HVAC/kitchen/bar design with acute detail to equipment placement and affected custom stainless fitting.
  • Reviews and approves kitchen and bar shop drawings including but not limited to stainless steel fabrication, walk in refrigeration box and kitchen exhaust systems.
  • Supports Supply Chain team with Cambro shelving and smallwares order requirements.
  • Gathers kitchen equipment and stainless-steel vendor quotes for new builds and renovation projects.
  • Assesses current state drawing package and determine continuous improvement opportunities with cross functional internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Collaborates with other key impacted departments (Purchasing, Culinary & Operations) to develop strong relations and open communication channels.
  • Remains alert to and interested in the overall foodservice industrys development. Investigates and reports any issues, trends or concepts which may have impact on the company, on the Browns Restaurant Group Operating System. Proposes changes to the system as appropriate.
  • Always maintains positive & professional franchisee and vendor relations.
  • Provides support for and performs such additional tasks as may be assigned from time to time.


WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Experience in designing commercial kitchen, foodservice facilities or hospitality
  • BOH environments with both buyout equipment packages and custom stainless-steel fabrication.
  • Strong understanding of commercial kitchen equipment workflows and needs.
  • Experience with mechanical, electrical and plumbing coordination requirements.
  • Knowledge of food safety and commercial kitchen design principles.
  • Ability to accurately interpret architectural and consultant drawing packages.
  • Restaurant experience is preferred.
