Job description
COHO Swim Club Assistant Coach
The COHO Swim Club is in full swing at Deerfield High School and the Sachs Recreation Center, and our membership has grown! We are hiring a part-time Assistant Coach to work with swimmers of various ages and ability levels.
While working under the direction and supervision of the COHO Head Coach, with secondary supervision provided by the COHO Head Age Group Coach, and any other assigned Lead Coaches, the COHO Assistant Coach provides instruction and training to swimmers ranging in age and ability while staying true to the Mission and Vision of the COHO Swim Club.
We offer a competitive hourly rate based on experience (pay range $16.00 - $25.00), and the opportunity to create a flexible schedule. Compensation and travel expenses for meets may also be included.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- One year of previous experience coaching intermediate or advanced swimmers and/or experience teaching competitive swimming lessons is preferred. If you are enthusiastic and enjoy working with children, we can teach you the skills to be a great coach!
- Current USA Swimming Membership in good standing along with the following certifications are needed at time of hire:
- Approved CPR/AED Certification
- American Red Cross Safety Training for Swim Coaches online amp; in-water or a Lifeguard Certification
- USA Swimming Criminal Background Check
- U.S. Center for Safe Sport Athlete Protection Training
- USADA Coaches Advantage Tutorial Certification
- USA Swimming Rules and Regulations Certificate
- Welcome to USA Swimming Certification
- USA Swimming Quality Coaching Framework Certification
- USA Swimming CORE Certification.
Physical and Mental Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and hear, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is frequently required to focus a high degree of attention on swimmers.
- The employee must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- The employee is frequently required to communicate with staff and others.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Working includes Indoor (hot, humid) and outdoor (hot, cold, wet) conditions.
Safety Requirements:
- Focus attention on the safety of swimmers.
- Use good safety awareness and judgment
- Follow policies
- Report potentially unsafe conditions
- Follow manufacturer safety instructions when using equipment
Wage Range: $16 - $25, starting pay at the base of range.
Benefits: Sachs Recreation Center free membership for employee during employment with park district.
