College Living Experience
Help neurodiverse college students build confidence, meaningful relationships, and real-world social skills.
Are you looking for a job where your work truly matters, every day is different, and you get to be part of a fun and supportive community?
At College Living Experience (CLE), social growth isn't taught through worksheets or lectures. It happens in apartments, coffee shops, college campuses, community events, restaurants, hiking trails, and countless everyday moments where relationships are formed and confidence is built.
Social coaching sessions are designed to be friendly, engaging, and collaborative while helping students develop the skills needed to build relationships, navigate social situations, and feel more comfortable in their communities. One day you might be helping a student plan how to attend a campus event or social activity. Another day you might be exploring the community together, helping a student practice conversation skills, or facilitating a group activity with other students. Our students are a wonderfully diverse group of people - artists, gamers, writers, athletes, music lovers, and students discovering new interests for the first time. A big part of the role is helping students connect with their interests while building friendships and social confidence.
Why People Love Working at CLE
Working at CLE means being part of a collaborative team dedicated to helping students reach meaningful milestones in their lives. Staff support students across four key areas of development:
  • Every day is different. You'll spend time mentoring students, helping them build practical life skills, and exploring the community together.
  • You get to see real growth. Watching students gain confidence and independence is one of the most rewarding parts of the job.
  • You can be creative in how you engage students. Staff often turn their own hobbies and interests into activities that help students connect and grow.
  • You get paid to do fun things in the community. From local events to game nights to karaoke, supporting students often means joining them in the activities they enjoy.
  • You're part of a supportive team. CLE teams value collaboration, flexibility, and recognizing the strengths each person brings to the work.

What You'll Do
Social Coaching & Mentorship
• Meet with assigned students for weekly one-on-one social coaching sessions (typically one hour)
• Build rapport with students while supporting the development of social confidence and relationship skills
• Help students recognize social challenges and practice strategies for navigating real-world interactions• Support students in learning how to engage reciprocally in conversations and relationships
• Encourage participation in community events, campus activities, and social opportunities
Community Engagement & Social Development
• Navigate the community with students to practice social and communication skills in real-life settings
• Facilitate social activities, group outings, and peer engagement opportunities
• Support students in exploring interests and building friendships• Provide transportation to and from social activities or events when needed
Documentation & Team Collaboration
• Write summary notes following coaching sessions and submit documentation by the end of the day
• Communicate student progress or concerns with the Director and CLE team
• Participate in weekly supervision meetings with the Director (individual or group)
• Collaborate with CLE staff across program areas to support student growth and development
This position is especially rewarding for individuals who enjoy building relationships, supporting social growth, and helping young adults develop confidence navigating friendships and community life.
Scheduling & Flexibility
We understand candidates may be balancing school, full-time work, or other commitments and are open to a range of availability based on program needs. Typical schedules fall within 20-25+ hours per week, though there may be opportunities for additional or fewer hours depending on scheduling and program needs.
Because many social activities occur in the evenings and on weekends, this role can be a great option for individuals seeking flexible scheduling or supplemental income alongside other responsibilities.
Who Thrives in This Role
This role is a great fit for individuals who enjoy mentoring young adults and helping others build independence. Many successful Life Skills Coaches and Resident Advisors at CLE come from backgrounds such as:
• Psychology
• Social work
• Education or special education
• Counseling
• Behavioral health or ABA therapy
• Student affairs or residential life
This position is especially rewarding for individuals who enjoy building supportive relationships, solving real-world challenges alongside students, and helping young adults gain confidence as they navigate college and adulthood.
What Makes This Role Unique
• Work directly with college students in real-life settings rather than a clinic or classroom
• Support students attending local colleges while building independence in their community
• Combine mentorship, life skills coaching, and community engagement
• Join a collaborative team supporting students across academic, career, social, and independent living domains
