Job description

Under general direction of the Program Assistant, the Beauty Shop Manager will supervise and coordinate the operation of patient beauty services for patients at DSH - Coalinga. Perform various beauty services for patients requiring special attention, record oberservations of patient behavior and arrange and supervise maintenance of Beauty Shop equipment. May plan and conduct training programs designed to give basic beauty knowledge and skills for interested patients.

Working Conditions
The employee is required to work any shift and schedule in a variety of settings throughout the hospital and may be required to work overtime and float to other work locations as determined by the operational needs of the hospital. All employees are required to have an annual health review and repeat health reviews whenever necessary to ascertain that they are free from symptoms indicating the presence of infection and are able to safely perform their essential job duties.

Department Information DSH-Coalinga opened in 2005 and began treating forensically committed patients, mostly of which are sexually violent predators. It is a self-contained psychiatric hospital constructed with a security perimeter.
All state civil service employees are currently subject to a mandatory Personal Leave Program (PLP). The PLP program reduces the monthly gross salary but provides PLO leave credits in lieu of pay. The amount of salary reduction depends on the classification and associated union Bargaining Unit (BU). The BU that represents this position is BU#15 Service Employees International Union . The expected salary reduction will be 3% of the salary identified above, and you will accrue approximately 5 hours of PLP each qualifying pay period. Incumbents will be subject to the PLP salary reduction and leave accruals through June 30, 2027.
