Job description

A Brief Overview
The Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support in an outpatient setting. This role includes but not limited to rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, documenting in the electronic medical record, assisting with procedures, supporting providers, and promoting efficient patient flow while delivering patient-centered care.
Part Time- 24 hours per week
What You Will Do
  • Facilitates unit operations by managing patient flow.
  • Assist with front desk duties specific to department, including scheduling patients, collecting and verifying patient payor information and other patient documentation.
  • Performs basic patient centered care as delegated by provider
  • Provides a safe environment for patients

Additional Responsibilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

Qualifications:
Education
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Program (Required) and
  • High School Equivalent / GED (Required)
Work Experience
  • less than 1 year clinical experience as a Medical Assistant (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Able to communicate effectively with people from varied socioeconomic backgrounds. (Required proficiency)
  • Able to organize changing work assignments. (Required proficiency)
  • Medical terminology knowledge. (Preferred proficiency)
  • Basic patient care skills (Required proficiency)
  • Patent focused (Required proficiency)
  • Positive attitude (Required proficiency)
  • Computer skills (Required proficiency)
Licenses and Certifications
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) (Preferred)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) (Preferred within 90 Days)
