Overview

The Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking food for guests at the Hippodrome while following established recipes, food safety standards, and quality expectations. This position works as part of the kitchen team to ensure meals are prepared efficiently and served in a timely manner during events.

This role pays an hourly rate of $18.00-$21.00

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and portion standards.
  • Assist with food preparation before, during, and after events.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department guidelines.
  • Monitor food quality and notify supervisors of any product concerns.
  • Restock ingredients and supplies as needed.
  • Properly store food and label products according to company procedures.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and report equipment issues to management.
  • Work with kitchen staff to ensure food is prepared and served on time.
  • Perform opening, closing, and cleaning duties.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a cook, line cook, or in a commercial kitchen is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and ability to lift heavy objects.
  • Ability to follow recipes and written instructions.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and event days.
  • Must meet all company and venue requirements for employment.
  • Food Handler Certification may be required based on local regulations.
