Job Title: Part-Time Truck Assistant

Job Summary

Join our mission-driven team! We are seeking a reliable, active, and community-minded Part-Time Truck Assistant. In this role, you will work closely with our Truck and Maintenance Leads to handle furniture pickups, process community donations, and maintain an organized storefront. This is a physically active role that directly impacts our nonprofit's daily operations and community outreach.

Key Responsibilities

Logistics & Distribution

  • Pickup Assistance: Ride with the Truck Lead to safely load and unload furniture donations.

  • Donor Relations: Assist the Truck Lead in calling donors to coordinate and confirm pickup times.

  • Scrap & Waste: Help transport recyclable metals to Weitsman’s Scrapyard and waste to Taylor’s (Casella) Garbage.

  • Satellite Pickups: Assist with scheduled donation and garbage pickups from the Red Door location.

Donation Processing & Quality Control

  • Intake & Screening: Greet donors, answer questions, and screen incoming items to reject non-resalable goods.

  • Sanitization: Assist in spraying mattresses with Sterifab and applying regulatory labels.

  • Sorting & Grading: Categorize and grade incoming shoes, purses, belts, and apparel.

  • High-Value Items: Route jewelry to the designated bin for the Store Coordinator to price.

  • Bulk Processing: Move sorted clothing into gaylord boxes within the Clothing Warehouse.

Customer Service & Store Operations

  • Load-Out Support: Help customers load purchased furniture and large appliances into their vehicles.

  • Inventory Restocking: Bring priced items from storage totes out to the retail floor.

  • Flexibility: Perform other operational duties as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications & Physical Requirements

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry heavy furniture and appliances daily.

  • Communication Skills: Friendly, clear, and professional phone and face-to-face communication skills.

  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with truck, maintenance, and store coordinators.
