Position Overview

Chesapeake Climate Control is seeking a detail-driven Commercial HVAC Estimator to support our growing commercial division in a part-time role. While this position is primarily part-time, we are open to a contractual agreement if appropriate. The role is fully remote and focuses exclusively on commercial HVAC projects, supporting bids from initial review through proposal submission.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced early- to mid-career estimator who values accuracy, efficiency, and collaboration and is seeking flexible work with meaningful impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and competitive commercial HVAC estimates using

various estimating software tools

• Review and interpret blueprints, specifications, drawings, and construction documents

• Perform detailed takeoffs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work

• Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal team members to obtain pricing and clarify scope

• Develop bid packages, estimate summaries, and proposal support documentation

• Collaborate with project managers and clients to confirm scope and align project budgets

• Identify scope gaps, project risks, exclusions, and value engineering opportunities

• Maintain organized and accurate estimating documentation

• Stay current with applicable codes, energy standards, and commercial HVAC best practices

• Support preparation and review of HVAC submittals, shop drawings, and equipment schedules to ensure alignment with project scope and specifications

• Assist with AIA documentation, including pay applications, schedule of values support, and cost validation as needed

• Coordinate with project teams on submittal logs, approvals, and revisions throughout the project lifecycle

Requirements:

• 2 to 5 years of experience estimating commercial HVAC projects

• Experience with any estimating platform or software is applicable and preferred

• Strong understanding of commercial HVAC systems, equipment, materials, and installation methods

• Ability to read and interpret commercial blueprints, specifications, and construction documents

• Experience coordinating with vendors and suppliers to obtain accurate and timely pricing

• Familiarity with Basis of Design documents, Due Diligence Studies, and Owner’s Project Requirements preferred

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail

• Ability to work independently and manage deadlines in a remote environment
