Position Summary
Janitorial Services is dedicated to maintaining a safe, healthy, and inviting learning, living and working environment for our campus community. We are part of the Administration & Finance division which provides essential services to our campus, local, state, federal and international customers. We are responsible for human, physical, financial and technical resources. As professionals, we navigate systems in a collaborative and sensitive way to assist the University in achieving its educational mission. The work schedule for this position is expected to be Monday thru Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. .
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
This part-time position will be responsible for the upkeep of an assigned area of campus to include university building(s), adjacent yard(s), and sidewalk(s). Duties are expected to include, but not limited to, emptying trash; washing walls and windows; vacuuming, mopping, and waxing floors; and attending to restrooms. Moving furniture and operating various types of cleaning equipment appropriate to completing duties is also expected. Cleaners may be assigned to shovel snow and mow lawns as necessary to upkeep sidewalks, yards, and driveways. Cleaners may also be tasked with equipment setups in assigned areas, cleaning light fixtures, replacing light bulbs, changing curtains and drapes, and hanging pictures or other decorative objects. As SUNY Plattsburgh is an institution that delivers challenging and high-quality educational experiences to a diverse group of learners, the successful candidate must demonstrate an understanding of and sensitivity to diversity, inclusion, and equity-minded policies, programs, and practices.
Required Qualifications:
  • Ability to understand and carry out written and/or oral instructions
  • Physically able to perform the tasks of the position including, but not limited to, those in the Examples of Duties & Responsibilities
  • A demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with a variety of individuals

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior professional cleaning experience

Salary (Applicant View)
